Mac mini' s are best to use because of it's portability and size. Watching movies and listening to music on your Mac is nice, but the only thing that ruins your entertainment is when you have to get up and change the song or movie. Or what I hate is falling asleep while watching a movie and then having to get up to lower the volume or shut down my computer. You can also use RemoteTap to see if any of your family members are snooping around on your computer while your not home. Whether your really lazy or really clever, Mac user's will find a reason to use RemoteTap.
Download RemoteTap for Your Mac
First, you need to download the latest version of RemoteTap for your Mac and follow the simple installation steps. It wont be the application itself you will be downloading, it is the Preference Pane to set the preferences and configure your Mac to connect with your Apple iPhone once you have everything downloaded and installed.
Download RemoteTap for Your iPhone or iTouch
Once you finish downloading and installing the RemoteTap Preference Pane for your Mac, visit the app store on your iPhone or on iTunes on your Mac and purchase & install RemoteTap. I believe it costs $4.99, last time I checked.
Setup the RemoteTap Preference Pane
Launch the RemoteTap Preference Pane on your Mac, it should be in the "Other" section in your Mac "System Preferences". It should automatically configure your "Port", if not or if you have another port in mind go ahead and manually set it yourself. Make sure you assign a password, it's better to be safe than sorry. All the other preferences are set to a default configuration, so it is best just to leave the rest alone unless you know what you are doing.
Launch RemoteTap on Your iPhone or iTouch
On your iPhone or iTouch, launch RemoteTap and on the upper right corner you will see a plus (+) sign, click it and then click "Scan". Assuming that your Mac and iPhone are on the same network, your iPhone won't have a problem finding & connecting to your Mac.
Enter Password
Once your iPhone finds your Mac, tap on the little blue arrow icon to the right of your located Mac Description. Then set the same password you used in the RemoteTap Preference Pane on your Mac. Click "Done" and tap on the area displaying your Mac computer's description/name, and your Mac desktop should appear on your iPhone or iTouch screen.
