How to Convert MP3 to Umx

Make sure that your computer meets the minimum requirements for Wavepad, Modplug Tracker and UnrealED. It needs to handle downloading those programs. A Pentium 4 with 1.2 GHQ is recommended, but a Pentium 2 with 422 MHz should work.

Download and open the Wavepad (audio converting/editing application) program. Go to "File" then locate and open the MP3 or WAV file you want to use. The pattern for the WAV will be green, and it will need to be configured with the following settings. Go to file then convert sample rate with 22050. Go to file then convert channels with "mono." Save the file. Right click the file on your PC to make sure it is less than 6 MB (this is too big), if not then it will need to be opened back up and the sample rate will need to go lower.

Download and start the program Modplug Tracker. Go to file, then open. There will be a box at the bottom for 'detect only,' check it. Find the music file; once everything is loaded you will see multiple tabs at the top. Open the one named 'patterns.' Highlight the area that has an, 'A**.' The asterisks represent numbers that are there, it could be any combination. Right-click and copy, at the top there are numbers, 0, 1, 1, and etc. Click on the number one right of the zero. Highlight where the 'A**' was just the row not the column, and then right click; paste.

Save this file. Go to file; save as. Choose the file name, but make sure that you save it as an .IT file.

Download and open the UnrealED program. Click the import button and load your file. Make sure when you save it, that it is saved as an .UMX file.
