How to Convince Your Man to See Sex and the City 2

Few people who have seen the pop culture phenomenon Sex and the City, whether the hit HBO TV series or the first follow-up movie release, can deny that SATC is typically considered a "chick flick." While there are plenty of male fans-whom I applaud for their open-minded decision to sample the show-most guys avoid anything which is infused with as much estrogen, fashion and female power that Sex and the City packs.

Sexy and the City 2 released in theatres on May 27^th, 2010, and has already been a hot topic for many weeks leading up to the debut. Unfortunately, many critics and long-time SATC fans are flaming the movie for losing too much of the original formula, or even being offensive and anti-Muslim. I lost faith in the SATC franchise after the first TV-to-Film movie, which featured Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker) as the star, with her former power-trio cast-mates in supporting roles. Part of the charm of the HBO show was the diverse foursome, which has now been reduced to Carrie's support group. Even the promotional poster featured Carrie solo (view the photo here), with an alternative promo ad (pictured here) featuring Carrie and the slogan "Carrie On" for the official SATC movie website.

So what possible incentive exists to convince a male non- fan to accompany you to the SATC 2 movie? Simple: Take a lesson from the glorious leading lady roles themselves, and utilize your feminine wiles to convince even the most reluctant he-man and SATC-avoider to be your date for the movie. Consider employing any or all of the following:

• The Power of a Sexy Outfit - If your man has a particular appreciation for a certain style of dress-or a specific outfit you only wear on special occasions-consider luring him to the theatre for SATC 2 by styling yourself in that very potent fashion weapon.

• Sexy Reenactments - SATC 2 is bound to be full of sexy scenes-hence sex and the city-especially with insatiable Samantha (Kim Cattrall) out on the prowl. Volunteer to reenact your man's choice of steamy scenes, complete with props and sultry dialog.

• A Guy Flick Freebie Pass - Maybe the hot blockbusters of the summer, such as Iron Man 2, are not your forte. Offer up a one-for-one freebie pass to your guy, in exchange for his accompaniment to see SATC 2. The reluctant-but-agreeable expression on his face while you wait in line for the movie will be worth it!

If none of these suggestions work, perhaps it's time to admit defeat and go and see Sex and the City 2 solo. Better still, grab a handful of girlfriends, dress to the nines, and make plans for Cosmopolitans after the show-who needs a man to enjoy a chick-flick, anyway?
