In French cuisines, frog legs are generally served as appetizers. In Asian culture, the frog legs are also served as a side dish with rice. Sometimes, they may even be served with congee for nutritional value.
If you're interested in cooking up some frog legs, some super markets will generally have a pack of frog legs available which are already cleaned. However, if cooking isn't something you're proud of, there are numerous Asian and French restaurants which will serve Frog legs in many different styles and dishes.
One of the most popular methods of cooking frog legs in both cultures is to fry them. All you have to do is clean the frog, roll them in flour with salt and pepper, and dip the frogs in an egg batter. Next, all you have to do is fry them. Generally, they will act like chicken when being fried, and shouldn't be too hard to cook. This dish is normally prepared as an appetizer in French cuisines; however, in Asian cuisines, the frog legs are generally served as a side dish for the rice. The spices of salt and pepper will normally accentuate the flavor of the frog legs, and is a must in the mixture!
A popular French cuisine method is to sauté the frog in a mixture of olive oil, and spices. Different herbs and spices can be added to accentuate the flavor or give it a different taste, and it varies from how a restaurant may choose to cook it or the consumer's preference. It definitely is well worth a try.
In Asian culture, the frog legs are used to be boiled in with congee. The congee is thought to have a very good nutritional value - especially for those who have the flu or are sick. The congee will normally have frog legs already in it with the soup for the flavor, and then some pieces of meat along with the congee. It's definitely very flavorful, and well worth a try whether you're sick or not.
Frog legs are a delicacy in many different cuisines. Sadly, the frog legs are the only edible part of the frog which can be seen as quite a waste. Some already have a biased opinion to the frog legs due to the fact that they think it's icky or gross; however, if you try it, you may have a different opinion, and see frog legs as a delicious afternoon treat. Frog legs are not too hard to prepare, and you can always experiment cooking frog legs in different dishes and cuisines which may suit your own appetite.
