1/2 cup of chopped onions
2 tablespoons cooking oil
3/4 teaspoon salt and pepper
1 1/2 pounds of ground beef or ground pork
1 5 ounce jar of cheese spread with bacon softened
2 tablespoons sweet pickle relish
1 teaspoon prepared mustard
6 hamburger buns split
Cook onion in hot oil until tender but not brown. combine cooked onion, salt and pepper. Add ground beef or ground pork mix well. Shape into 6 1/2 inch thick patties. Place on rack of unheated broiler pan. Broil 3 inches from heat. For beef broil till desired doneness (allow about ten minutes total time for medium). For pork broil 12-15 mins or till well done.
Combine cheese spread pickle relish and mustard. spread about 1 tablespoon on each bun half. Broil buns about 1 minute or until bun is toasted and cheese is bubbly.
Serve patties in buns. What a yummy burger. Makes 6 servings.
Mushroom Stuffed Burgers
2 beaten eggs
1/4 cup catsup
3/4 cup soft bread crumbs ( 1 slice)
1/4 cup finely chopped onions
1 teaspoon salt and dash of pepper
1 1/2 pounds ground beef
1 6 ounce can chopped mushrooms, drained
6 slices of American cheese
6 hamburger buns split and toasted
6 slices onion
6 slices tomato's.
In bowl combine eggs and catsup, stir in bread crumbs, onion , salt and pepper. Add ground beef and mix well.
Shape into 12 1/4 inch thick patties. Place mushrooms atop half of the patties to within 1/2 inch of the edge.
Top with remaining patties and seal edges.
Grill over medium coals till desired doneness, turning once (allow 12-15 minutes total time for medium.
Or broil patties 3 inches from heat allow 10 mins total time.
Place cheese on top of patties till melted. serve burgers on buns with onion and tomato's slices. Makes 6 servings.
