How to Cook: M's Turkey Chili

M's Delicious Turkey Chili - the Perfect Way to Use that Leftover Turkey

M. Kayo
There's nothing better on a cold winter's day than a hot bowl of M's delicious turkey chili. It's so easy to make and it's the best way to use up all those turkey leftovers from the holidays.

Begin with a large sauce pan, medium heat. Add chopped onion, freshly pressed garlic, diced jalapeno peppers and olive oil. Saute these ingredients for about 2-3 minutes. NOTE: Be sure to remove the jalapeno pepper seeds if you want a milder taste. Leaving the seeds in will increase the spicy flavor of this chili. Add a pinch of salt and red pepper as these ingredients. Saute for 5-7 minutes.

Add pre-cooked diced or ground leftover turkey to the pan and saute for about 3-4 minutes.

Add chili powder and cumin to taste.

Add a 12 oz. can of pinto or black beans.

Add a 12 oz can of stewed, diced tomatoes with the juice.

Add 1/2 cup of chicken or turkey broth.

Mix all ingredients together and bring chili to a low boil, then reduce heat to low and let simmer uncovered for about 15-20 minutes.

Season with salt and red pepper to taste.

Serve with shredded sharp cheddar or pepper jack cheese sprinkled on top, and tortilla chips.

1 medium white or yellow onion
1 lb pre-cooked ground or diced turkey
2 medium jalapeno peppers, diced
olive oil
chili powder
cumin
red pepper
1 can pinto or black beans
1 can diced tomatoes
1/2 cup turkey or chicken broth
1/2 cup shredded cheddar or pepper jack cheese
1 small bag tortilla chips

This is a fabulous recipe that is very easy to prepare and uses ingredients that are easily found in your kitchen.

Remember - If you're removing seeds from jalapeno peppers, use latex or rubber gloves and do not touch your eyes as the oil from the jalapeno pepper can burn.
