How to Cook Rice

Cooking Rice Properly Can Be Easy

Darren Heath
Cooking rice properly can sometimes be met with a lot of difficulty. The rice sticks to the bottom of the pan and burns, other times it sticks together and other times the rice is still hard in the middle. In fact, cooking rice should not be that difficult.

To begin, simply measure out the desired amount of rice and then add twice the amount of water. Bring the water and rice to a full boil. Once the rice reaches a full boil cut the temperature back on the stove to low. Cover the pot and let the rice cook on low for half an hour. The water should be absorbed fully and the rice should not be sticky.

As an alternative method bring the rice and water to a full boil. As soon as the water reaches a full boil, remove the pot from the stove and wrap it tightly in one or two towels. Let the rice sit for at least half an hour. If you let it sit longer it can yield even better results.

If you know how to cook rice properly, there is no reason to buy instant or quick cooking rice.
