One of the slang terms that have hung around for a very long time, cool is a real " groovy" thing to be. Words like groovy, rad, phat, def, hep, far out, and crazy just didn't have the staying power that "cool" did. Since "cool" has stayed around for so long, it must be cool to be --- cool.
Another definition for cool is 'calmly audacious." Another definition is "fashionable." The mark of cool is calm self-control. A person who is cool can handle themselves very well in difficult situations. Synonyms for cool are bold, brazen, certain, cocksure, self-confident, and self-possessed.
And have you ever observed that cool people don't have to try hard to be cool? It's almost effortless. It's like people just naturally want to be with cool people. That is because there is difference between attracting attention and seeking attention. Cool people just attract. They don't have to go seeking after anything. There are a few practices that lead to being cool and attracting attention.
Learn to cope with having less attention than your prefer at a given time
Never appear rushed or nervous
Say less than is needed or than you would like to say at the moment
Watch the out-of-control behavior of others, and by doing so, learn what not to do
Be different, and be yourself. However, don't be too different. Then it will look like you are seeking attention.
Use courtesy and tact all of time
Pay close attention to your appearance
Nothing says cool like a clean and fashionable-looking person. If you dress well, have a good tall walking posture, and groom yourself well, you can't be far away from being cool. However, remember you've got to be fashionable. If you're dressed for the office, you're not cool. You are just dressed for the office.
Pay even closer attention to your skin
That means no zits, blotches, or even wrinkles, for as long as you can. If you've already got these, work with the other steps, but if you don't, keep it that way. Eat healthy and drink a lot of water.
There, you have it. That's all you need to be cool. Practice all of these steps and you will be on your way to being known as the one who it always "calmly collected" or "fashionable" All it takes is practice and ultimately being comfortable with yourself.
