How to cope with depression without medication
Depression is a mental illness, and it isn't anything to be ashamed of. A lot of people have been diagnosed throughout the years. I must say, I am a survivor of depression. The market is full of various medications to treat this illness.
Depression is broken up into various categories. There isn't just one specific type of depression. It isn't easy to overcome such an illness, but it can be done.
Journal
Jotting down your feelings on paper will help release the negativity. Negativity in your life will only fuel the depression. The written word is a powerful escape from our negative thoughts.
Friends and family
The support of friends and family is a benefit many depressed people tend to shy away from. Why? Depression leaves you wanting to be left alone with negative and dark thoughts. But loved ones will support you in your time of need.
Exercise
Exercise will help you feel better about yourself. The great benefit is you will get into shape. You should create a routine and stick with it. Exercise is a healthy alternative. An exercise routine should be discussed with your doctor before you begin.
Proper diet
A diet should always be approved by a doctor. There are so many diets available out there. Your doctor will give you the proper diet for your body type. He/she will give you the correct meal proportions for your body size. A proper diet helps you feel good inside and out.
Sunlight
Sunlight is full of vitamin D. This is an essential vitamin for your health. A little bit of sunlight every day is healthy. It assists us in growing.
Coping with depression without medication isn't highly recommended among doctors. Every patient who suffers from depression is different. Medication and doses don't affect everyone the same way. Do not give up. One day at a time is the key to becoming a survivor of depression.
These methods will help ease depression. It will not completely cure it. Negative thoughts need to be turned into positive ones. This can happen with practice. The more you practice saying positive thoughts, the less negative ones will be there to get you down. The key is to stay positive. You do not have to live alone with this illness.
