Set The Football Boundaries Early In The Relationship
If you are the football fan, it is imperative to inform your significant other of your love for the game. If you are in front of the television all day on Sunday and on Monday nights, let them know what to expect. The significant other should be informed that there should be no talking before or after half time. An informed spouse, girlfriend, or boyfriend will never be able to say that they did not know you did not want to be bothered during the game.
Deal With The Football Fan In Your Life
If you are the non-football fan, understand that it is in your best interest to deal with the fact that you might be ignored all day Sunday and on Monday nights. We as die-hard fans try our best to be there for you during the week. However, by Friday night we are already preparing for Sunday's game and expect you to react accordingly. Having a bad attitude with us during the game could rub off on us and carry over into activities that you enjoy.
Be Nice To The Die Hard Football Fan In Your Life
If you are not the football fan in the household, being nice to the one who is will get insure brownie points. Having a positive and fun attitude while your significant other is yelling at the television when their team scores a touchdown will be noticed. It would not hurt to offer to make snacks and drinks, or even order their favorite foods during the game either. You may not be interested in the game, but you have shown your significant other that you are interested in their being comfortable and happy, and that speaks volumes.
Unfortunately for us football fans, the season does not last all year long. However, if our spouses and significant others can understand that it is something that we love, and something that we feel compelled to watch every Sunday and on Monday nights without interruptions, the season will move along quicker and smoother for them, and once football season is over we can resume our regularly scheduled lives.
