Rest
When a person is stressed out, one of the things they forget to do is take proper care of themselves. They may feel so busy or rushed to meet a deadline that they forget to get the rest that they need. A problem may seem difficult to solve. But if a person makes sure they go to bed early on a regular basis and get the needed sleep, the problem may not go away, but it will be easier to cope with.
Take a relaxing bath
A relaxing bath may help some to deal with the stress in their lives. Try taking a bath at the end of a stressful day; this can really help a person to relax. Add scented, aromatherapy candles around the bathroom and set the scene for a nice relaxing soak. Distract your mind by reading a good book or listening to music.
Pets can help
Pets are more than just a ball of fur, as I am sure you are well aware. They can help to contribute to a healthier, less stressful you! Scientists have proved that stroking a cat or a dog can actually help to reduce blood pressure. What does that mean? It means less stress! If you have a cat who likes to sit on your lap, do not underestimate the benefits of stroking and spending time with him. As you focus on your pet, you are also more likely to forget about the stress in your life, even if that is just for a temporary period.
Keep a diary
Writing in a diary can be a great stress reliever. Sometimes the written word can help you to work through the issues that are causing stress in your life. After spending a period of time in quiet reflection and writing about the day's events, the problems may not seem as significant as they did at first. Writing about the causes of stress can also help you to deal with what is going on, by identifying how to do things differently in future.
Exercise
Exercise cannot be emphasized enough when it comes to promoting the overall physical wellbeing in a person. Exercise can also help a person deal with stress in their lives. A brisk walk, jog or a swim are just some forms of exercise that can help a person deal with stress. One thing that stress does is sap a person of energy. But exercise helps to rejuvenate and replace the lost energy, and that can really be a boost during stressful times.
Be organized
If you suffer from stress because you are bad at organizing events in your life, then now is the time to make some changes! Look at deadlines that you must keep. Write them on your calendar, in a pocket diary, and keep a daily "to do" list, complete with the day's date, with the most important task of the day prioritized at number one. When each task has been completed, cross it off and move onto the next one until all of the tasks have been completed. If you are not able to complete all of the tasks in that day, try not to worry too much. Just make sure you get them done as soon as you can.
Stress cannot be totally eliminated. It is a fact of life that everyone has to deal with at some point in their lives. But, when it comes to how it is dealt with, the person who is stressed has choices to make that can either improve the situation or make it worse. By making wise choices, stress can be put back to where it belongs, as a very small part of your existence, that does not need to interfere with your productivity or enjoyment of life.
