1. Check out movies at the library. Most libraries have a decent collection of movies that can be taken out for up to a week. If you are use to watching movies on the internet or on cable then renting movies from the library can be a great option for you.
2. Use the computer at your school, the library, or someone's home. If you attend college you most likely will have access to the college computers and so you can spend a few hours or so there using them. Your public library might also have computers opened to patrons with a library card. Library computers usually can only be used for a set amount of time ranging from a mere 15 minutes to an hour. See if you can use the computer of a friend or relative for an hour or so. You may be able to satiate your thirst for the internet by frequenting these three places every day or so o the week.
3. Library hop on days where you have used up all of your computer time. You may be able to use your library card in other libraries surrounding your town if your local library participates in an exchange program.
4. Establish television night with friends and family where you can come over to their place once a week to watch your favorite shows. You can also ask your family or friends if they are willing to record certain television shows for you so that you can watch them later in the week at your home.
5. Attend weekly matinees at movie theater. If you can rise early in the morning then you can attend matinees every other week or so. Traveling to and from the movie theater will kill a lot of time. You will eventually tire yourself out so that by the time you arrive home you'll be too tired to be concerned about the absence of cable and internet.
6. Attend free events and admissions in your town. Check for free events and admissions to museums in your area and attend them. You will be able to take your mind off of losing the cable and internet.
7. Purchase a small radio or portable television. It is always a good idea to know what is going on in your area and in the world so it is important that you have access to the news. You can purchase a small radio and listen to the news on there. You can also purchase a handheld television which will allow you to get the basic non-cable television channels.
