Mobile Phone
First lets learn how to do the mobile phone. Just put in the dvd you wish to copy over into your dvd drive and run the program. First chose your source directory (that would be the dvd drive). Then in the middle left chose "generic" in the "dvd to mobile" list. Now chose the directory you want the end result to be placed. I personally just make a new folder in the hard drive and put all my phone programs in it including the movies. Now chose the part of the dvd you wish to copy over. More often than not, it is the part that is the longest run time. Just use the preview screen on the bottom left to see the portion you want. Then click the audio you plan on using. Again, mostly, its the longest version that is usually the movie sound track. Especially if it says 5.1. Press next and on the next screen press the first one on the list and click "configure". On this screen chose the video format that is supported by your phone (read the user manual if you haven't tossed it out). Most phones use MP4 (My Motorola RAZR uses 3GP). If you don't know trial and error is the best way to go. On the "frame resolution" chose 176x128, that should be sufficient. On the other options you just want to play around a bit till you get the size that will actually fit in your phone. Basically the less bit-rate the smaller the file will be but worse the quality. Unless you have the new HDTV 50inch phone you won't notice how bad the quality is anyway so go as low as will fit. And when you are done click "OK". Press "start" go make something to eat then come back and click "finish". The finished product will be in a folder named "generic" in the target directory you chose. Just use whatever method you normally use to put movies on your phone and you are ready to go.
IPOD
Now we will learn the IPOD portion. Just put in the dvd you wish to copy over into your dvd drive and run the program. First chose your source directory (that would be the dvd drive). Again, mostly, its the longest version that is usually the movie sound track. Especially if it says 5.1. Press next and on the next screen press the first one on the list and click "configure". The video format should be MP4 for the ipod. On the "frame resolution" chose 176x128, that should be sufficient. On the other options you just want to play around a bit till you get the size that will actually fit in your IPOD. Basically the less bit-rate the smaller the file will be but worse the quality. And when you are done click "OK". Press "start" go make something to eat then come back and click "finish". The finished product will be in a folder named "IPOD" in the target directory you chose.
