How to Copy Images to Multiple DVDs Using Ghost 2003 Software

EZ Writer
Norton's Ghost software has a reputation of being a powerful and reliable disk-imaging application and this is especially true with the latest version, Ghost 2003. Ghost can copy an image of a hard disk or a partition onto a network drive, an internal hard disk, an external USB drive, or a FireWire drive. Ghost 2003 also supports removable media, such as recordable CD and DVD drives. Not only that, but it can copy a hard drive onto another system through the use of a network, USB, or parallel connection.

Ghost 2003 also does much more than just copy images to DVDs. It's most useful feature may be its ability to backup an entire hard drive with ease. The software obviously offers many amazing features, but here we will learn three popular ways to copy images to multiple DVDs using Ghost 2003.

1. Split the file during image creation by creating the image and saving it as a file to a different hard drive. After you've instructed Ghost to split the image as it's being created, the software will split the image file into files that are small enough to fit on DVD's. Once this is done, you can burn the images to the discs using your recording software.

2. Split the file after image creation by creating the image and saving it as a file to a different hard drive. After that's complete, run Ghost Explorer to split the images into files small enough to fit on a DVD. Afterwards, you can burn the images to the discs using your recording software.

3. Save the file directly to the DVD by creating the image and saving it as a file directly to the DVD. Ghost 2003 can support saving images directly to DVD's.

Tips:
Before beginning, you might want to check Ghost's compatibility list to find out if Ghost supports your CD/DVD R/RW drive.

Things to Avoid:
Never use the span switch on the Ghost 2003 command-line. Ghost will automatically span CD/DVD R/RW discs if it deems it necessary.
