Maybe you still think that the answer to the above asked question is never and wonder how someone could be so careless to discard money! . I will now ask the question in a different way to see if it changes anything. When was the last time you crumpled up a coupon and threw it into the trash can? Aha!
Now is the time to start thinking of coupons for what they really are! Coupons are money...with an expiration date! Using coupons can save you hundreds or even thousands of dollars yearly on food, clothing, and a variety of other goods and services.
With a little time and organization, you can reap the benefits of coupon usage. I have been actively collecting and using coupons since I was 12 years old. My coupon usage has allowed my family to afford items that would normally be out of our reach. Savings from coupon usage have even funded vacations!
The following steps will provide a beginners guide to coupon acquisition and usage. You should tailor this guide to fit your individual needs.
Search for coupons. There are many places you can find coupons. Some of the most common places are newspapers, product packaging, store shelves, and the internet. Be proactive in your coupon search! Sign up for coupons from the manufacturers of your favorite brands. This can usually be done by visiting the manufacturers website or by calling customer service. Never be ashamed to clip a coupon!
Organize your coupons. One of the best ways to organize coupons is to use a coupon organizer. Coupon organizers come in a variety of styles and sizes. Coupon organizers have pockets which are labeled and used to separate related coupons. You can also make your own coupon organizer. I suggest labeling the outside of several envelopes.
After you have chosen to purchase or make a coupon organizer, deicide how your coupons will be sorted. Organization is especially important when your coupon collection grows. I actually have several coupon organizers. I also prefer to separate my coupons by amount, group, and store placement.
Read the fine print. Coupons have specific details that must be noted and followed prior to usage. Specifics to note include coupon savings amount, items eligible for redemption, and amount limitations. Some coupons may be used in conjunction with other incentives. Stack coupons to receive the maximum amount of savings.
Using coupons is a great way to save money. Keep track of all the money that you save to motivate yourself to find more coupons. Never be ashamed to pull out a coupon! After all, coupons really are just free money!
