Making a faux stained glass picture is an easy, fun and inexpensive craft project. Once complete, these pictures look gorgeous hanging in a window anytime of year. Your newly created faux stained glass picture will make a beautiful addition to your home decor and they make wonderful gifts for the special people in your life.

Materials:

Two picture frames of equal size (thin frames look best)
Pressed fall leaves (silk leaves from the craft store work great tool), or you can use silk flowers if you prefer flowers to leaves
Clear packing tape
Chain kit for hanging.

Directions:

First take both of the picture frames and remove the glass from one of them. This is all you will need to use from the second picture frame. You can store the rest away for another faux stained glass picture in the future. Start out by cleaning the glass very well on both sides. The glass can be left clear or you can frost the glass if you prefer. Just paint the frost onto the glass, following the procedures on the container. Let the glass dry thoroughly before continuing the faux stained glass picture.

Once the glass has dried, place the leaves or the flowers onto the glass in any shape or pattern you like. Now lay the second piece of glass on top, being very careful not to slide the decorations out of place. Now apply the clear tape around the edges of the glass to seal them together. The glass can now be placed back into the frame, making sure that the design is facing outward. Now bend the frames clasps against the back of the glass to hold it securely in place.

Now you will need to add the chain for hanging, this can be accomplished by using a picture hanging kit. Your faux stained glass picture is now finished and ready to be hung in the window. Since the pictures are made using frames, they can be made in various sizes. If you like you can sandwich other flat items between the glass as well. Fabric cut into different shapes and motifs work fantastic as does intricate lace doily's. Another quick embellishment is to tie some satin ribbon to the chain. You can even create faux stained glass pictures for the holidays. Use snowflakes for Christmas, pumpkins for Halloween, a turkey for Thanksgiving etc. Experiment trying out different ideas and be as creative as you like.

I hope you enjoy this fun and easy craft project for making a faux stained glass picture.
