How to Craft a Scented Christmas Tree
Just Follow the Easy Directions to Add a Little Spice to Your Holiday Season!
Materials:
Bag of potpourri (green and red)
food processor
ground cinnamon
ground ginger
cloves
craft glue
paint brush
a 10" or 12" Styrofoam cone
glitter
thin wire ribbon
candle stand.
Tips:Choose a bag of potpourri, preferably red and green for the holidays. The scent of the potpourri should be one that will blend well with the kitchen spices. Apple spice works great. Also there are different types of potpourri available, some are fine and than others come with large ornamental shapes. The fine type works best for this project. If you are unable to find, the fine potpourri than make sure to remove the large ornamental pieces.
Directions:
After removing any large pieces from the potpourri, pour the remainder into a food processor. Add a few cloves and blend. Now pour the potpourri mixture onto a large flat plate. Using the paint brush, cover the entire Styrofoam cone with craft glue. Now lay the glue covered cone into the potpourri mixture and roll it around. Using your hands press the potpourri to the cone and add more to any bare spots, until the cone is completely covered.
In a small container mix a small amount of cinnamon and ginger together in equal amounts. Using your fingers, sprinkle the spices over the cone to fill in any bare spaces and to add even more aroma to your scented Christmas tree.
Use one of the large dried ornaments that you removed from the bag of potpourri (if available), glue and press it onto the top of the scented Christmas tree to create a topper. Let dry. Next, mix some craft glue with a little water and carefully dab it on to the scented Christmas tree and sprinkle with glitter to add a shimmery effect.
Take the wire ribbon and tie a bow to the scented Christmas tree, just below the tree topper (or on top if there is no topper). Make sure to leave the ribbon streamers long and shape them into curls down the length of the scented Christmas tree. Now place your scented Christmas tree on a candle stand for a beautiful and yummy display..
Hints: To keep your tree smelling extra spicy, dab it with a little cinnamon oil.
