How to Crave Healthy Food

When a person grows up eating an unhealthy diet, their bodies become accustomed to those foods. When our bodies become accustomed to those foods we begin to crave them.

That's why if you eat fast food every day and try to give it up, you'll find yourself craving a burger and fries. Our bodies are excellent at adapting, and unfortunately they'll adapt to things that aren't good for us.

But there's good news. If our bodies become accustomed to unhealthy food and we find ourselves craving that food, then our bodies can become accustomed to healthy food and crave it.

How to crave healthy food

When you initially make the switch to eating healthier foods, you probably won't find these foods as appealing and tasty as the foods you're used to eating. It's not that healthy food doesn't taste as well as hamburgers or macaroni and cheese, it's just that you're not used to eating healthy food.

If you want to crave healthy food you must first realize that healthy food does not taste bad, you're just not accustomed to eating it. Over time you'll get used to eating the healthy food and you will start to crave healthy food.

How to crave healthy food: 5 steps

Crave healthy food by following these 5 steps:

1. Be patient. Don't expect to crave healthy food right away. Give your body time to get used to eating a new way, and it will start to crave the healthy foods.

2. Even though you will grow accustomed to eating healthy food, and that alone will lead to cravings for healthy food, there are going to be certain foods that you simply don't like.

Do not make yourself eat foods you can't stand. There are plenty of healthy foods that you will like, so stick with choices you enjoy and you'll find yourself coming back for more.

3. Let yourself have special treats every once in a while. For instance, if you enjoy fast food, allow yourself to eat at your favorite fast food restaurant once a month. If you forbid yourself to ever have a treat, you'll find yourself craving the forbidden foods.

However, it's best to completely avoid doing so for at least the first couple weeks of eating healthy food. You want to get your body accustomed to eating healthy before you indulge in foods that aren't very good for you.

4. Only keep healthy options in your house. If that's all you have to eat, that's what you'll eat.

5. Find healthy recipes and experiment with them. If you have fun creating healthier dishes you'll enjoy eating them more. Also, having a lot of variety will make healthy food more interesting and appetizing.

If you find foods you like, create recipes you enjoy, purchase only healthy food, and stick with it, you will grow accustomed to the healthy food. You'll learn to love it, and most of all you will crave healthy food.
