Ann Siper
This Barbie Doll Christmas tree garland is a fun way to create a whimsical Barbie Christmas tree, but still be able to reach up and grab your Barbie off the tree to play with it. I often see Barbie Christmas trees in decorating magazines. One fault I always see is that you can not take the Barbies down and play with them!

There is some sewing involved in making this Barbie Doll Christmas tree garland, but it is very easy. Once you get the sewing completed let your little girl embellish the Barbie garland and add some fun details!

To Make a Barbie Doll Christmas tree Garland You Will Need:

Fabric (felt or fun foam is best)

Sewing machine

Scissors

Barbie

Craft supplies for decorating

Interfacing (optional)

To get started you need to cut your fabric into long strips. These need to be about 6 inches tall and as long as you can. You can sew the ends together to make one long Barbie Doll Customs tree garland.

Now, if you used a flimsy fabric, then iron on a fusible interfacing to the back of the fabric. This will add stability. Felt and fun foam really are the best options, but if you did use another fabric, you will need to hem the edges to clean them up.

If you use fun foam, then you do not have to use straight liens on the edges of your Barbie Doll Christmas tree garland. You can scallop the edges or create any pattern you wan t with pinking sheers.

Now, basically you are going to be creating a pattern of cuts along the strip of the garland fabric.

Start at the left of the fabric, about four inches in and cut it into horizontal slits in the same direction as the length of the garland. These should be about three inches wide.

The slits should be one on top and one below. Space them about 2 inches apart. You are basically creating a slit to slight the Barbies into. So, for each Barbie on the garland you will need two lists, line of vertically.

Movie over about 5 to 6 inches on the garland and cut the same slits.

Continue this process all the way to the end of the garland.

Now, again, if you used a fabric beside fun foam or felt your will need to simply sew a line on the cut edges so keep them for fraying. A no fray product will work as well.

At this point the kids can embellish the Christmas tree garland with fabric paint, glitter, jewels, and beads.

Now, Go ahead start slipping your Barbies into the slits on the Christmas tree garland. Have yoru little girl's help you wrap the Christmas tree in your fun creation and enjoy your whimsical Barbie Doll Christmas tree!
