How to Create Balloon Pinatas - Going to a child's birthday party can be a fun time. If you are the parent throwing the party however, it can be extremely stressful. There are many things that go into planning a birthday party for a small child; birthday cakes, presents, favors, food, and games. There are many options of games, such as pin the tail on the donkey, duck, duck goose, and the old standard; the Pinata. The problem with pinatas are that it requires the children to take turns. While this is all good in the land of learning to share, it can create an antsy line of children waiting for their turn. One option you may wish to consider is the balloon pinata. This will require more work on your part but creates a fun game for the children to play. The basic idea is to fill balloons with candy, confetti and favors. Then throw them in the middle of the room and let the kids have at it. Stomp the balloons or sit on them to pop them. Here is how to create balloon pinatas:

-To complete this project you will need balloons, small candy, confetti and favors. For this example you will also need a small tube about 4 inches long and the diameter of a quarter.

-Pull apart the balloon and insert the tube as far into the balloon as possible.

-Place small pieces of candy such as smarties, tootsie rolls and jolly ranchers into the tube. You may wish to put confetti in first to avoid spilling. Another fun option is to use bouncy balls.

-Blow on the end of the tube so that the balloon inflates.

-With the balloon inflated use your hand to tap the tube to dump the candy into the balloon. When you have as much candy and confetti as you desire, carefully remove the tube.

-The resulting balloon will be a deflated, lumpy balloon. Put it aside and do as many balloons as you need for your party. Remember, the more the merrier.

-Once all balloons are filled, proceed to blow up all the balloons.

When the time comes to play the balloon game, hand out treat bags to every kid participating. Explain the rules that they pop the balloons first. Then once all balloons are popped then you will tell them to pick up the candy.

Remember that popping balloons can result in snapping and small injury. Make sure your child and guests are old enough to participate in this game.
