How to Create a Blog and Increase Page Views and Readership

Do You Want to Know How to Use Blogs to Increase Your Viewership?

Alisha Jett Christian
Talented writers, here at Associated Content (AC), strive to increase their page views on their articles every day. Content Producers are always looking for new and effective ways to get the word out about their articles. They want to attract more readers, more page views and, ultimately, more money.

There are many helpful Associated Content articles already written by the Content Producers (CP's) here on AC. These helpful articles contain hints, tips and suggestions to help CP's with their page view goals. It is highly recommended that all Content Producers do a search for these articles in the Associated Content search box and read them. Learn and utilize the tips and suggestions shared by professional Content Producers who want to help others succeed as they do. You'll thank yourself when you start pulling in 5k page views.

To get started with one, very effective, way to promote your AC articles that is guaranteed to build page views and pull in new readers, read on.

The first thing you want to do is create a blog of your very own. Keep it simple until you get the hang of utilizing all the templates and such. Then, you want to use your blog to advertise your Associated Content articles. You will also want to sign up for Google's AdSense so you can set up Google Ads on your blog and, hopefully, make a few extra bucks the same way AC does.

To get started, follow these suggestions:

1. Sign up with a free blog company like Blogspot at (http://www.blogger.com/).

2. Use your blog to share all the articles you post on AC.

3. Install the Google Toolbar with the B (Blogspot) Button activated. (http://www.google.com/intl/en/options/index.html)

4. For exclusive articles, pull up your article on AC, highlight an interesting, short, snippet and click on the B in the Google toolbar. The pop-up box will show the link to your article and the snippet you highlighted. Double check the contents of the box, add a unique comment, if you like, and then Publish.

5. For nonexclusive articles, copy and paste a larger portion of your article with a link back to AC into your blog and publish it.

6. Sign up with Google AdSense and get your Publisher ID. Go to your blog. Click on Customize or Layout and you will go to a page with a layout of your blog. Click on Add a Page Element, in one of your columns, and a new window will pop up. One of the options listed in that window is AdSense . Choose that option, fill out the information it requires, add your Publisher ID and then click on Save Changes.

7. Add your Viral RSS URL to your blog. Use the Feed Module on your blog template to add your Viral RSS URL You can go to your AC CP Page and right-click on the Orange RSS Button next to your name. Click on the Copy Link Location (or similar statement) on the menu that comes up next to your cursor. Go straight to your blog and right-click into the Feed box, chose PASTE to paste your RSS URL into the box and then click on Save Changes. Now you'll have a viral RSS feed of all your AC articles, automatically appearing in one of your side blog columns.

8. View this screencast on how to ping your blog and then follow its suggestions every time you publish new content to your Associated Content CP page: (http://www.associatedcontent.com/video/645/how_to_ping_your_blog.html).

9. Write interesting opinion articles about the theme of your blog. If it is crafting, then focus on crafting. If it is politics, news, cooking, writing, etc., focus on that. This will add meat to your blog, so it isn't just a blog of links back to AC.

10. Update your blog often and regularly. Add new content on a daily basis if possible. If you have something come up that will cause you to leave your blog untouched for a few days, put a note on your blog and let your readers know. Let them know when you are coming back too, if possible.

Well, there you have it. It may seem a bit overwhelming at first, but I guarantee you it is simple once you get started. So don't wait, get started on it today.

There are also a couple more blog-like websites that allow you to sign up for free and be a part of a community. Once you get your Blogspot blog set up, you might consider branching out to them, if you have time. I can recommend two such blog communities: Squidoo (squidoo.com) and Blogger Party (bloggerparty.com). By signing up with these two places, you will get even more exposure for your Associated Content articles, which means more page views and readers for you.

Thank you for reading my article. If you have time, please rate and comment on my article. Also, if you would like to read more articles by this content producer, just scroll back to the top of the page and click on my avatar. That will take you directly to a page with all the rest of my articles.

I wish you good luck and, as Spock would say, "Live long and prosper".
