Materials for Making a Bumblebee Transformers Halloween Costume
To make your own Bumblebee Transformers costume, you will need at least 1 yard of yellow felt fabric, black felt, fabric glue, needle and thread, silver fabric paint, black sweat suit, black face paint, and black stretch gloves. For the Bumblebee Transformers costume helmet this project uses a black face mask and silver sunglasses but you can also use you can use an old football helmet, bike helmet, play construction hat.
For reference you may also wish to have a picture of the Bumblebee Transformer on hand.
Putting the Bumblebee Transformers Costume Together
To add depth and interest, this Bumblebee Transformers Halloween costume utilizes layers of fabrics. A black sweat suit will serve as the base for this Halloween costume.
Before beginning the Bumblebee Transformers costume, use the black sweat suit as a guide on how big to cut the yellow felt pieces. For the body of the Bumblebee Transformers Halloween costume, you will want to cut the yellow felt piece so it will have enough space to fit over your child's head with shoulder straps. The yellow felt will serve as the front and back shield of the Bumblebee Transformers costume. Before cutting the felt, you may want to use a large piece of paper to create a pattern so you cut the felt to the right size.
Use black felt to add distinctive Bumblebee Transformers detail to the front and back of the yellow felt shield. Use fabric glue or sew the black pieces to the yellow felt background. For shoulder pads, consider cutting an additional piece of the yellow felt in the shape of a rectangle with enough space in the center of the rectangle to fit over your child's head. Use black felt to add detail.
Now add detail to this Bumblebee Transformers costume by decorating the black sweat suit. Cut rectangles out of the remaining pieces of yellow felt and sew on the front top and bottom of the black sweat pants. Repeat this look on the back of the black sweats to mimic the look of the Bumblebee Transformers. Continue to use yellow felt to add detail to the arms of the black sweat shirt as well. Use silver fabric paint to add metal details at various locations on the costume. Be creative. If you wish you can create a unique flare on the bottom of the sweat pants by sewing the yellow felt so it flares over your child's shoes.
For the Bumblebee Transformers costume helmet, use a black face mask and yellow felt to create an interesting helmet look. Add silver mirrored sunglasses and silver fabric paint to complete the look. Finish the look completely with black face paint and gloves and you'll have a unique Bumblebee Transformers Halloween costume.
