Barb Webb
If you are looking for a great last minute craft idea that's inexpensive, easy to put together, and guaranteed to get "oohs" and "ahhs" from your recipients, then Christmas Towel Angels are for you.

The supplies can easily be found at any dollar store and each Christmas Towel Angel takes only minutes to put together. Follow the easy steps below to create this adorable and whimsical gift.

Christmas Towel Angel

Supplies Needed:

1 Dish Towel, 1 Pot Holder, and 1 Dish Rag in coordinating or contrasting colors

(Red and Green work well for Christmas, but you can choose a color scheme to complement any kitchen décor so that the angel may be displayed throughout the year)

Ribbon in a color that is complementary to dish towel selection (¼ inch to ½ inch ribbon works best)

Small Rubber Bands

Scissors

Instructions:

Lay dish towel completely flat (unfolded) on a flat surface with inside of towel surface facing up. (The inside of the dish towel is considered to be the side with the tag or the "rough" side of the finished towel.)

Fan fold the towel. Fan folds should be approximately a half inch each.

Secure the center of the dish towel fan with a small rubber band in the center. You should have two equal length folds that will form the body of the angel.

Fold the dish towel fan in half from the center point of rubber band. Cut a six inch length of ribbon. Tie ribbon tightly around the folded dish towel, approximately three inches from the top (the top is the fold with the rubber band.) Double knot and secure ribbon, fashioning into a bow. This will form the "neck" of the angel. Cut the rubber band from the towel.

Lay dish rag completely flat (unfolded) on a flat surface with inside of rag surface facing up. (The inside of the dish rag is considered to be the side with the tag or the "rough" side of the finished dish rag.)

Fan fold the dish rag. Fan folds should be approximately a half inch each.

Secure the center of the dish rag fan with a small rubber band in the center. You should have two equal length folds that will form the arms of the angel.

Wrap the dish rag fan around the "neck" area. Cross the ends of the dish rag fan so that they overlap, to appear as if the angel's hands are crossed.

Cut a 6 inch length of ribbon. Tie ribbon tightly around the folded dish rag at the section where the dish rag fan overlaps. It will appear as if the ribbon is tied at the "wrists" of the angels hands. Double knot and secure the ribbon. Tie the ribbon off into a bow.

Cut the rubber band from the dish rag.

Lay pot holder completely flat (unfolded) on a flat surface. Fan fold the pot holder. Fan folds should be approximately a half inch each.

Secure the center of the fanned pot holder with a small rubber band.

Cut an eight inch length of ribbon. Using the ribbon, secure the pot holder to the fanned dish rag on the back side of the angel. The pot holder will form the "wings" of the angel. Double knot the ribbon and trim loose ends of ribbon. Leave the rubber band on the "wings." As the pot holder is a thicker item, the rubber band will help keep it secured and in place.

Your Christmas Towel Angel is now complete!
