Learn to Identify Dumb New Years Resolutions

New Year's Eve may be a time of reflection for you. This is a great time to reflect and adjust the things that are undesirable in our lives. There may be many reasons why you want to make these changes. Here are a few tips to help you reach and exceed your goals.

Create a list of New Years resolutions. Take your time and think about all of the habits that you would like to change. This is your list, don't worry about what other people will think. You do not have to share your resolutions with anyone. This could be viewed as something that you are doing as a gift to yourself. Take the time to write a few notes to yourself. Write down the results and benefits that you will have when you carry out your resolutions. Think often about the benefits of your resolutions. Review your list often while you are working hard and putting forth effort until you get the results you want to have.

Are there any resolutions that were on your list last year? If so how did you approach the problem, or habit that you wanted to change at that time? If you are going about the same course of action to get that different results, stop. This is a dumb resolution. Not that the idea itself was not good. The way you are trying to achieve these results should changed.

Most resolutions simply are about creating better habits. If your current system is not working for you, don't hit your head against a brick wall by trying the same things that do not work for you long term. Try a different approach to reaching your resolution. If you feel unsure about how to do this, find an expert and follow the steps that they suggest. If your resolution is to clean and organize your home, don't expect to do this in one day. Take small pieces of time to consistently work on reaching this new goal. Realize that you will have to be fair with yourself, and not expect unrealistic results.

Of course you should expect the best, but expectation without proper practical application will not get you where you want to be. Try a different strategy to reach your dreams and goals this new year. Keep a results journal to help you further explore where you are making progress and where you have room to improve upon.

Use these tips to help you create an effective list of new years resolutions. Don't embrace dumb New Years resolutions, find a new way to tackle problems and hurdles from someone who has already overcome that issue. Most importantly review your results journal to see how much progress you have made.
