The Church:
When decorating the church take a look at the seating available in the church. For churches that have pews that the guest will sit on, fix a small Christmas wreath on both ends of each pew. These wreaths can all be identical or they can vary from pew to pew. If there will be individual chairs then use white slip covers on all the chairs and then use big bows to hold the slip covers on. For the big bows mix it up and use red bows on some chairs and green bows on the other chairs.
For the alter where the bride and groom will stand get a big Christmas tree scarf and place on the floor around the front and sides of the alter the same as you would around the Christmas tree. Make sure to leave enough of the scarf in front of the alter for the bride and groom to both stand on together for the ceremony.
The Reception Hall:
If you wish to have helium balloons floating around the ceiling or affixed to anything I would suggest using white for the majority of the balloons and have only a few balloons in red and green. Just a little splash of color can go a long way.
If your balloons are affixed to something and not floating around the ceiling then decorative icicles can be hung from the ceiling to give a true wintery feeling to your reception.
For the table clothes use white as you will have a splash of color from the center pieces. For the center piece on the tables you can use either a white pillar candle or a white taper candle. Place a holly wreath around each candle. Another center piece idea is really small table top Christmas trees that are decorated with small Christmas ornaments as these can really add to the feel of a Christmas themed wedding. Just make sure if you use the small Christmas trees that you use ones that will not obscure the visibility of those sitting at the table.
A miniature sleigh can be created as a place for the wedding presents to be placed in. The rendition of Santa's sleigh will add a Christmassy feel to your wedding while serving a purpose by holding all those wedding gifts.
I hope the above suggestions help you to have a elegant Christmas themed wedding that does not overshadow your big day.
