How To Create Folders on The iPad To Organize Apps

If your iPad is cluttered with applications across numerous screens, you now have a tool to organize them. It is a new addition to the Apple IOS 4.2 for the Apple iPad. Folders have been available for the iPhone since the 4.0 update in the Spring of 2010, but the iPad had folder envy until the 4.2 upgrade to the operating system on November 22 of 2010, released by Apple.

Now iPad users can reduce the clutter on their screens by creating folders for a variety of different applications. Unfortunately Apple did not make it easy to discover how to create your folders. Several simple steps will allow you to complete this task though.

Start by pressing on an application and holding your finger on it until the x's appear on your screen next to each application just like you would use to delete an application. Instead of deleting an application though, drag one onto another that you wish to have in the same folder. This will create your folder. At that time your iPad will allow you to name your folder. If you do not name it, the folder will include the name of the category of the game from the App Store.

Once you have created a folder, you can add new applications to that folder. To do this, once again press on the application on the screen until the x appears, and then drag the application to the folder. If the folder is on another screen drag your application to the edge of the screen and it will scroll towards the next screen until you find the folder.

If you wish to open a folder, click on it on your iPad. Once you open a folder, you can open your application or move it to another folder. To move it to another folder, once again press on the application until the small x appears. You can then drag it to another folder or onto another application to create a new folder.

This new functionality will help you keep your iPad organized and reduce the number of screens that you have to scroll through to find your applications on the iPad.
