How to Create a Football Party Poll

Alicia Bodine
Football is a popular sport that lends itself to get-togethers and parties. While it is fun to just sit and watch a football game, you can add a little more excitement to the party by participating in a few activities. One activity that can be conducted either ahead of time, or as soon as the party starts is filling out a football poll. The football poll needs to be tailored to suit your party so you will have to make it yourself.

You will need the following items:

Computer with Internet access
Printer

Follow these steps to create your football poll:

Step 1:
Decide whether you want to send the poll out a day or two in advance of the party so that the results can be read at the party, or whether you want to hand the poll out as the guests arrive. If you want to send the poll ahead of time you will need a computer with Internet access. If you want to hand the poll out on game day, you will need a computer with a word processing program and a printer.

Step 2:
Create between five and 20 questions for your poll. The first question might be "Which team do you think will win the football game?" Another questions might be "Who do you think will win the coin toss?" Think about the statistics that occur in a football game to come up with some more questions. Fumbles, third-down conversions, and interceptions all lend themselves to good questions for your poll.

Step 3:
Create multiple choice answers to go with each of the questions you created. For example, the question "Which team do you think will win the football game?" would have the two teams playing listed as the multiple choice answers.

Step 4:
Type the poll up in a word processing program and print out as many copies as you have guests. You could also use an online program, such as Snap Poll (See resources), to create a poll you can email your guests a day or two ahead of time.

Step 5:
Tally the results and share them with your party guests. This would be done for you if you used a free online poll tool. You can also give the guests their sheets back and allow them to see how many choices they ended up getting right or wrong throughout the game.
