How to Create Garden Themed Easter Basket for Kids

PamIam
Celebrate Easter with a gardening themed Easter basket for your child. Spring has arrived and its the perfect time to get outdoors. Gardening is a great activity to do together as a family. The gifts in this Easter basket will delight your child and be a great start for a gardening project.

Child Sized Gardening Tools
Children love having tools that are just there size. Not only are child sized tools cute, but they are also practical. It is easier for a child to properly and safely use a tool that is sized appropriately. A full set in a tote has everything you'll need or pick up a smaller set if it fits your storage space and budget better. Have a young child who doesn't like getting their hands wet and dirty? Give them a set of wet soil gloves so even your finicky child can help with the garden.

Planting
Something to plant in your garden themed Easter basket is a must. Seeds make great easter egg fillers. Seed Ballz are easy for young children to help plant, because they can be placed anywhere on top of the ground. Just make sure seed ballz stay moist and they will grow. Seed Ballz are made by people with disabilities, so they're a good company to support. Matchstick Gardens by Noted are another fun way to give children seeds to plant. They simply tear off a match stick and plant it tip first. Personalize the seeds in your child's Easter basket by giving seeds for flowers in your child's favorite colors or vegetables your family love. If you don't have a yard, herbs grow very well in small pots by window sills. Another option are the Eggling Crack and Grow plants. They combine the idea Easter eggs and a gardening theme in your Easter basket nicely. Eggling Crack and Grow eggs are available in many varieties from cacti to wild strawberries.

Other Easter Basket Treats
There are toys and sweet treats that will go along with your garden themed basket. You don't have to stick strictly to practical gardening paraphernalia to keep with the Easter basket's theme. Bunnies, while a pest in your real garden, will be a welcomed addition to your child's Easter basket whether plush or chocolate. Chocolate carrots will be a nice treat for Easter, while you wait for your real ones to grow. Chocolate ladybugs make a welcome addition to your child's garden Easter basket just as real ladybugs are a welcome addition to your outdoor garden. Items such as stickers and coloring books can be carefully selected to fit the theme of the Easter basket too.

Easter Basket Alternatives
Try something other than the traditional basket for your child's Easter treats. A tote bag can be embroidered to personalize the bag with your child's name or a gardening image to match your theme. A large watering can is a useful and creative Easter basket alternative.

The embroidered part I can do on some ginham material and just add elastic and pull it over the basket for my 3 month old grand daughter. You have given me the insentive to start crafting again. Thank you. Hugs Mary

This is a fabulous idea, and I just did my easter shopping today. But, I don't have the baskets yet. My Grandson will be 2 years and 8 months, and he would love to help Daddy in the garden. Thank you so much for sharing. Hugs Mary (PS I have added you to my cp's favorites.)

What a cute idea :) I'm always trying to find good things for Easter baskets. I hate those cheap ones they sell at the grocery stores around Easter time.
