1. Remember to be a good communicator and more importantly and excellent listener. Listen to what your audience want to hear rather than what you want them to hear.
2. Make people want to buy your product or service, don't just create and give your audience a sell, sell, sell presentation.
3. Understand yourself, find out where your strengths and weaknesses lie when it comes to giving speeches, and try to iron out weaknesses as and when/wherever possible.
4. Be prepared. Preparation really is key when it comes to giving a persuasive and successful presentation. So prepare what you want to say, what information you want to give your audience. Remember when drawing and writing up a presentation to cover: who, what when why how and where.
5. Be organised and structured, and make sure your presentation is too. Make sure your presentation has action points, a beginning, a middle and an end.
6. Ensure that any presentation you give provides information that your audience will find valuable, worthwhile and useful.
7. Always make sure that you under promise and over deliver.
8. Use visual aids, just remember not to go over the top. Nobody wants to sit through a 2 hour powerpoint presentation or similar so ensure your presentation is engaging and interesting from start to finish.
TOP TIP: Powerful and engaging visual aids you could use include things such as: overhead projectors or whiteboards.
9. Always have the right attitude, be confident about your presentation and what it has to offer your audience, but don't be too cocky and confident. Nobody likes a show off or know it all.
10. Ensure you make eye contact with your audience. Try to memorise as much of your presentation as you can. Don't be constantly looking down at your notes. Make the time and effort to interact and make eye contact with your audience, reassure them that you know what you are talking about, and reassure them that you are trustworthy.
Remember that a persuasive presentation isn't just about talking, it can and will also be about the way you communicate to your audience in a non verbal way. So remember to start off and keep strong body language throughout the whole of your presentation.
I hope you have found this information both useful and helpful and I wish you every luck and success in giving successful persuasive presentations.
