How to Create a Halloween Fragrance Party

Many of us have been to candle parties, Halloween parties and even fragrance parties, but what happens when you put all three together to form a Halloween fragrance party? Here are tips on how to incorporate all three in one of the most memorable and smelly parties of the year.

Tip One:

Request or purchase candles that smell like items that are associated with Halloween (ex. pumpkin pie, marshmallows, candy corn). These can be given out as party favors. Make sure the candles are orange and black to create the Halloween theme mood.

Tip Two:

Find your dessert-loving friend or cooking friend, and assign him or her the task of making a pumpkin pie.

Tip Three:

Purchase or rent a Fondue that melts chocolate. Let your guests melt chocolate on marshmallows, which will fill the air with the scent of a candy store.

Tip Four:

Have a Halloween costume contest with everyone dressing up as their favorite scent (ex. lady with fruit on her head to represent favorite fruitdish, sandwiches [remember Bill Cosby as the submarine sandwich on "The Cosby Show"?]). Your more creative friends may get a little more gory or scary with their costumes (ex. spaghetti disguised as brains to show their love for Italian food).

Tip Five:

If the weather permits a campfire, consider having the Halloween party outside so guests can enjoy the smell of the outdoors and s'mores can be made. Not only are s'mores a yummy smell, but for the nature lovers, the fragrance of the outdoor air will be relaxing.

Tip Six:

Have a food smelling contest for the meals. Everyone has to bring their own Halloween dish, and whoever can tell what the dish is by smelling it without looking at it (use a blindfold) wins one of the candles or some other party favor. You can get your guests involved by making it a potluck party where everyone has to bring a different dish, and the only person who knows what all the dishes are is you so nobody can cheat.

Tip Seven:

Have drinking games that incorporate fragrances. Each person has to smell another person's neck or wrist and guess who that person is. If the person guesses the wrong fragrance (give the person a choice of three different perfumes or colognes to guess from), they have to take one shot. If the person guesses the wrong name of the person wearing the fragrance, they have to take two shots. This is a great icebreaker to get your Halloween guests more comfortable around each other.

Other than the drinking game this is an awesome list of ideas. I like the guessing idea, but have seen too many people get carried away at parties with an innocent shot game. Some people can handle alcohol, others do not. Favorite scent: I was thinking along the lines of perfume or colonge, so would dress as an angel ~ Heaven Sent; doubt I could come up with anything for other favorite fragrances. But you have me thinking...
