Harry Potter Halloween costumes have been quite popular in recent years. As a matter of fact, since the characters first made their on screen debut, there has been a large demand for these items. Although Harry himself is one of the main characters, Ginny Weasley costumes are one of the most often sought costumes. Purchasing a Ginny Weasley Halloween costume can cost dearly and is really not necessary though. This is one of those Halloween costumes that is not only easy to create, but inexpensive to pull together.

To make a Ginny Weasley costume, there are a few items that you will need. However, many of these items won't have to be purchased. Most often than not, they are already in the closet. For items that you don't have, consider purchasing them from a local thrift shop. Also take into consideration what alterations you may need to make to the items that you already have. The complete Ginny Weasley costume should take no more than $30 tops to make and that's on the high end.

Your daughter will need a black or gray pleated skirt, knee length or a little longer. A white pleated shirt with a collar, tights, and a pair of mary janes shoes. In addition, there are some optional items that can help complete this look. These include a wand, cape or blazer, a black robe, and/or a knit scarf with a matching hat. When adding the optional items to the Ginny Weasley costume, keep the Harry Potter theme in mind. Consider adding the Hogwarts crest emblem to the costume and/or the house colors. The scarf and cap can be easily found in many different colors used or new. However, the crest emblem may have to be purchased separately. If you don't want to have to purchase this item, consider removing an emblem off of an old jacket or blazer. No one will know the difference.

To complete the Harry Potter/Ginny Weasley Halloween costume, remember the hair. In the majority of the films, especially during the early years Ginny's hair was worn down with bangs. Add light waves using a curling iron/crimping iron. Bangs can be worn straight down, without the wave. If your child has a different color/type of hair, purchase a cheap wig that is a light mousy brown and style. The look is that simple. The best part is, it only takes a few minutes to prepare your child's Ginny Weasley Halloween costume.
