How to Create Your Own Magic While at Walt Disney World

If you've ever been to Walt Disney World then you know about "Disney Magic". Amazing and unexpected things seem to happen in every direction. Also, Disney is in their second year of Disney's "The Year of a Million Dreams" celebration. Anyone at any time can be picked and given a "dream" from the Disney Dream Team. Prizes ranges in size and value. While all the goodies and even freebies are nice, it is also a great feeling when you start spreading your own pixie dust.

My favorite way of bringing magic to our Walt Disney World vacation is something I like to call the visit from the "Disney Fairies". I took an idea from Mousekeeping and expanded on it. Mousekeeping - Mickey Mouse's (Disney) housekeeping cast members at the Disney resorts. Mousekeeping has been known on occasions to leave towel and washcloth surprise creations in your room for you to discover upon your return. We have been "pixie dusted" with several animals and our daughter loves coming back to the room to see what was left for her. (Note: Try not to be disappointed if you do not receive any of the Mousekeeping goodies while on your stay. The gifts are random and totally up to the person that is cleaning your room.)

I must admit that my "Disney Fairy" experience hasn't went beyond our room at the resort but I'll post other ideas of ways that you can share the "Magic" with others.

The first year that the "Disney Fairy" visited, she left Disney character stuffed animals on the bed every morning. I had picked up several of the stuffed animals at a yard sale for only a quarter a piece. (Way cheaper than paying souvenir prices while at Disney.) The hardest part was keeping the toys out of sight until they were needed.

One year we were there for MNSSHP (Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party) and I brought along a new costume dress (Sleeping Beauty), a wig, a wand, and the shoes that matched. Every morning the Disney Fairy would leave something behind until the day of the party. (Not only did she get a gift everyday but she had a costume to wear to the Party.)

This year the "Disney Fairy" left behind a collectible trading pin every night. Our daughter couldn't wait to wake up each morning to see which pin was added to her lanyard.

She tells everyone about the "Disney Fairy" and asks if the Fairy has ever visited his or her resort room. I love making our little one feel special and I love to see the sparkle in her eyes when she believes in the "Disney Fairy". I know I'll be heartbroken when she stops believing and realizes that its mom leaving all the goodies.

Ideas for sharing "Magic" with strangers can be as simple as passing out character stickers or handing out glow sticks to little ones at night. Both of these items can be purchased in bulk and won't break the bank. You can also purchase a child a balloon or any other souvenir merchandise, just be sure to ask their parents first and explain that you would like to spread a little cheer. Another idea would be to pay for the person's meal that is behind you. (Don't forget Mousekeeping - we always leave them a tip in a specially marked envelope.)It's easy to spread the "Magic" at the happiest place on Earth.
