How to Create Your Own Simple Spells

W.S.
Creating simple spells is an enriching and rewarding experience. When done properly, you can create simple spells for your specific needs. Spell craft is not a difficult process but you must approach it with respect and humility.

A Word of Warning

Casting a spell to harm or manipulate others is not done. Period. When working with magic, it's essential that you don't cast spells that affect the lives of others in any way. If you do so, it won't go without its repercussions.

Magic is not something to take lightly. Although it's natural and harmless if used correctly, if you have ill intentions, bane begets bane.

To Hold a Need

There is no harm in casting simple spells to benefit you (as long as they don't affect others). Many people cast simple spells for peace, love, money, happiness, courage strength, luck, etc. There are tons of simple spells out there in cyberspace but creating your own is far more effective and enjoyable.

You should understand that these simple spells do work, if done properly and with intent. However, you can't expect to cast a spell to turn yourself into a mermaid or your nosy neighbor into a frog. Even if such things weren't morally reprehensible, they just aren't possible.

Magic is the "programming" of the energy around you and sending it into the universe with a task. There's no way the universe can turn a human into a frog but it could make you appear less interesting so your neighbor will leave you alone.

To really be able to raise and focus energy for a specific need, your simple spells will be most effective if you really have a need. The more you want something, the more likely you are to get it. Passion is a great energy generator.

As I discussed before, you can also do simple spells for things like bringing harmony into your home. You may not need this with a great passion, but if you want it and visualize yourself already possessing it during your spell casting and releasing of energy, it will come to pass.

Visualization

Visualization is a very important tool when it comes to creating your own simple spells. This is the backbone of magic. Anyone can recite a few words and light a candle but these acts in themselves are not magical.

Visualization comes naturally to some people and others find it very difficult. If you haven't much skill in visualizing, all you need to do is practice. This is easily done anywhere at any time. While watching TV, close your eyes and try to visualize what you just saw on the screen. While reading a book, really visualize what is happening in your mind's eye.

Visualization is the first step in creating something that isn't already present. For example, when casting simple spells for money, you would need to visualize yourself with the money in your hand, spending it, already possessing it.

Creating Spells

Once you have a grasp on using magic responsibly and you're well practiced in visualization, you're ready to move on to creating your own simple spells.

The first step is to determine your need. Do you want romance, money, friendship? What sort of simple spells would you like to create?

Once you've figured that out, you can begin to outline the ritual actions, words you may like to use and tools to help focus your energy and make your simple spells more effective.

The Shift

There are many ways to perform impromptu simple spells without the use of tools or by adapting the materials of nature and your environment as tools. For the less experienced spell caster, it is helpful to use tools such as candles, stones and herbs to help create an easier shift of consciousness.

When we cast simple spells, or any spells at all, we have to shift our consciousness to a different frequency, so to speak. As much as we may want to, we can't just snap our fingers, say a few magic words and expect mountains to move.

Shifting consciousness is easier said than done and this is the part of casting elaborate or simple spells that takes the most work and practice. Often the tools we use can help us with this shift.

Tools and Correspondences for Simple Spells

Selecting the tools you'll use is an important part of the process when creating simple spells. Of course, if you are in a situation where no tools are available, you can still cast a spell. The only actual requirement is your skill in shifting consciousness and directing energy.

In simple spells like the pet protection spell I intend to create, I would research correspondence tables to find out which items would lend the best energy to the spell. Different stones, colors, herbs, etc. have different energies. For example, if performing a spell to attract love to your life, you might use a rose quartz and a pink candle.

There are correspondences for days of the week, months, numbers, runes, incense, stones, herbs, colors and more. We're going to focus on creating simple spells in this article so we'll just go over a few of these.

Color Magic in Simple Spells

In brief, the color correspondences are as follows:

Red - Strength, Power, Courage and Passion, Fire

Pink - Friendship, Love and Compassion

Orange - Strength, Luck, Vitality

Yellow - Divination, Communication, Creativity, Learning, Air

Brown - Animals, Homes

Green - Luck, Fertility, Healing, Prosperity, Growth, Earth

Blue - Psychic Awareness, Tranquility, Patience, Water

Purple - Spirituality, Occult, Wisdom, Progress

Black - Protection, Removing Negative Habits, Night

Gray - Astral Plane, Vision Quests, Neutrality, Hesitation

White - Purity, Protection, Truth, Peace, Justice

Silver - Moon, Psychic Development

Gold - Sun, Success, Achievement, Fortune

Please keep in mind that this is a brief overview of color correspondence. This is meant only as a guide. Since these are tools to help you effectively cast simple spells, go with what feels right to you.

If you pay attention to the emotional correspondences of each color, you might be surprised that they've affected you your entire life. In hospitals, rooms are painted pastel blue so people feel more relaxed and calm. Fire engines are painted bright red and this evokes a feeling of strength and power. Both of these are good example of how colors affect us and why adding a little color magic to your simple spells is so operative.

As you can see, the best color to use in my simple spell would be brown. Brown corresponds with animals and I'm creating a simple pet protection spell.

Incorporating Colors into Simple Spells

We've selected brown as a color to use for our simple pet protection spell. But what does that mean? How are we going to use it to create a spell?

There are many ways you can use color in your simple spells. If doing a money spell, you might want to carve runes into a green candle or use green ink to write words of power. These are just some of the many ways you can use color to create simple spells.

For our pet protection spell, I'm going to burn a brown candle. I will use the candle's energy to help me raise power and actually cast the simple spell.

Now, since this is a protection spell, we can look at our color correspondence chart and see that red and black both have a protective energy. Again, go with colors that feel right to you. If the color orange says "protection" to you, use it instead of red in your protection spells. These are your simple spells and will work best if you follow your instincts.

So what can I do with red and black to help create a simple spell? Perhaps I have fabric or cords in my magical supplies that I can use. These types of materials come in handy when creating simple spells. I'll use the red fabric and make a small charm to put on my dog's collar. I'll tie it on with a black cord or thread.

If you were performing simple spells to have good dreams, you could make a small dream pillow out of blue fabric and stuff it with corresponding herbs. If casting simple spells for love, you could charge a pink ribbon to wear around your wrist after the spell is completed. For simple spells to attract money, make a bag to hold coins, etc.

These are just suggestions to guide you. Again, go with what feels right to you.

Herb Correspondences of Simple Spells

I love herbs! Using them can help increase the power of your simple spells. I'll give a brief run-down of herb correspondences. Of course there are many more herbs than those listed below. This is just a guide to get you started creating your own simple spells.

Strength or Protection Spells - Pennyroyal, Fennel, Mugwort

Love or Friendship - Passionflower, Rosemary, Honeysuckle

Luck Spells - Heather, Violet, Clovers

Divination Spells - Anise, Basil, Dandelion

Healing Spells - Lemon Balm, Mugwort, Nettle

Fertility Spells - Hawthorn, Mistletoe, Geranium

Psychic Spells - Honeysuckle, Lemon Grass, Marigold

Peace/Tranquility Spells - Lavender, Gardenia, Lily of the Valley

Wisdom Spells - Sage, Elder, Almond

Truth Spells - Eyebright, Cyclamen

Success Spells - Ginger, Red Clover Flowers, Cinnamon

Money Spells - Spearmint, Bergamot, Patchouli

Incorporating Herbs into Simple Spells

For our simple pet protection spell, we'll use Mugwort since it symbolizes strength and protection. We'll stuff the charm we're going to make with Mugwort. We'll make this a ritual action to further influence the strength of our simple spell.

Other examples include using spearmint to fill a charm for money. Anoint it with patchouli oil as a ritual action and carry it in your purse (or pocket) to attract money. You could toss eyebright into a bowl of clear, cold water for a simple truth spell.

The possibilities are endless! Use your imagination. If herbs aren't your thing or you don't have any available, you can leave them out. Work with what you have and be creative when creating your own simple spells.

What's all this talk about Ritual Actions in my Simple Spells?

Ritual actions are the content of simple spells. These are the actions we physically perform while raising energy and casting simple spells. In the case of our pet protection spell, we're going to burn a brown candle, stuff a red cloth with Mugwort, sew it together and attach the black cord.

It's helpful, before we start writing the words of our simple spells, to outline our ritual actions to better see what we're doing. This isn't a difficult process once you get going. Begin by making a list of ritual actions for your simple spells like so:

1.) Burn brown candle.

2.) Stuff red cloth with Mugwort and sew.

3.) Attach black cord.

Writer's Block

So you've made it this far and you don't have any idea where to start writing words to go along with the actions in your simple spells? Let me begin by saying that words are not necessary but highly recommended as they make clear your intent. You don't have to be a great poet to write simple spells. You need only to create simple words that convey your need and are easy to remember.

Flowery words look nice in the movies but they aren't practical when working with real magic and casting real simple spells. You need to concentrate on the feeling you get from the words, the energy they create, not on pronouncing a fifteen syllable word correctly.

Let's take a look at the first ritual action in our simple spell, burning the brown candle. Perhaps when lighting it we could say something like, "Burning flame, lend your strength to my spell. My pet is healthy, happy, well." This is all it takes to write simple spells.

Rhyming is ideal because it makes things easier to remember but it's not necessary for writing simple spells by any means. You could just speak from the heart if you so chose.

I like to think of short rhymes that accurately describe my need. Remember to visualize the simple spells as already complete. You wouldn't want to say "May my pet be healthy, happy and well." Instead, say, "My pet is healthy, happy and well." You'd want to state it in way that says you know your simple spells have worked.

Continuing the Outline of Your Simple Spells

As you write words, jot them down on your outline. This will make it easier to put everything together when you're finished creating your simple spells.

For our second ritual action, creating the charm stuffed with Mugwort, we'll create another simple rhyme to recite. While you're casting simple spells, remember to visualize strongly while performing ritual actions and chanting or speaking. Reciting words without feeling or visualization will give you mechanized simple spells with no results.

Remembering that we're using red cloth and Mugwort for protection can help us in writing the words to accompany our second ritual spell action. We could come up with something like, "Mugwort for protection, red as the heart, My pet is protected and will come to no harm."

If you're having trouble with this, just rely on appealing to the tools you're using in your simple spells. It may sound silly but it works when creating simple spells. An example would be if you're using patchouli to attract money. You could say, "Herb of Patchouli, send money to me!" Easy!

Now we have one last action in our simple spell. We're going to attach the black cord to the charm. We could say something like, "Black for protection, this cord completes, my pet is ever protected and safe."

Let's take a look at how our outline looks now.

1.) Burn brown candle.

"Burning flame, lend your strength to my spell. My pet is healthy, happy, well."

2.) Stuff red cloth with Mugwort and sew.

"Mugwort for protection, red as the heart, my pet is protected and will come to no harm."

3.) Attach black cord.

"Black for protection, this cord completes, my pet is ever protected and safe."

It looks pretty good but we need to put on the finishing touches on our simple spell. You could leave it as is if you're so inclined but I like to format my simple spells for easier copying into my Book of Shadows by hand.

Combining Words and Actions in Our Simple Spell

Now that we have a basic outline of our ritual actions and words of our simple spell, it's time to format it to our liking. You can do this any way you feel comfortable. Remember, it's your spell and this is only a guide.

I'll share with you the way that I prefer to format. Let's start with step number 1 of our simple spell outline. We can combine the action with the words like so:

1.) Light the brown candle and say, "Burning flame, lend your strength to my spell. My pet is healthy, happy, well."

Moving on to step 2 of our simple spell, we can come up with something like this:

2.) Take the red cloth and stuff it with Mugwort, sewing up the top but leaving two holes to attach the black cord. While stuffing the charm, visualize your pet happy and protected while repeating, "Mugwort for protection, red as the heart, my pet is protected and will come to no harm."

Now it's starting to come together. Let's move on to the next step of our simple spell.

3.) Put one end of the black cord through a hole in the Mugwort charm and pull it out the other side. Tie the cord while saying, "Black for protection, this cord completes, my pet is ever protected and safe."

As you can see, we're doing pretty well so far but our simple spell is still not completely finished.

Finishing Touches of the Simple Spell

Go over your simple spell at this stage and see if there's anything you need to add. You may want to reinstate the need for visualization or add additional steps to your simple spell. I like to add a supplies list so I can scan the spell in my Book of Shadows quickly and see if I have the needed materials to perform it.

When completed, the simple spell I began creating in the first part of this series looks like this:

Pet Protection Spell

Supplies needed:

Brown candle

Red cloth or fabric

Mugwort

Black cord

1.) Light the brown candle and say, "Burning flame, lend your strength to my spell. My pet is healthy, happy, well."

2.) Take the red cloth and stuff it with Mugwort, sewing up the top but leaving two holes to attach the black cord. While stuffing the charm, visualize your pet happy and protected while repeating, "Mugwort for protection, red as the heart, my pet is protected and will come to no harm."

3.) Put one end of the black cord through a hole in the Mugwort charm and pull it out the other side. Tie the cord while saying, "Black for protection, this cord completes, my pet is ever protected and safe." Concentrate pouring all of your protective energy and the energy of the candle, herbs and colors into the charm as you bind it.

4.) Tie the charm to your pet's collar and know that they are protected.

Tips for Successful Casting of Your Simple Spell

It's important to remember, when casting a simple spell, that you must build energy, program the energy and then release the energy to be successful. The building of the energy in this spell occurs as you are performing ritual actions and chanting the words. The voice is a powerful tool for raising energy. Make sure you're strongly visualizing the end result (a happy, protected pet) strongly throughout this process.

Visualization is the method by which you are programming the energy in your simple spell. The stronger your visualization skills, the stronger your imprint is on the energy. Concentrate with all of your strength on the end result of your simple spell as if it is already in existence.

In this simple spell, I would coincide the releasing of the energy with the final words of the spell. You may take some time in between steps 2 and 3 to dance, drum, chant, whatever to raise more energy if you wish. The point is to build as much energy as possible. Once you feel like you can't take it anymore, release it into the universe to serve its purpose. Performing a simple spell within a magic circle is helpful in containing the energy until you're ready to release it (more on that topic in another article).

Have confidence in yourself. If you fail, keep trying. Nothing is gained without work and dedication. One of the most important tips I can give you is to know without a doubt that your simple spell works. Have fun!
