How to Get and Create Your Own Stargate Atlantis Stargate

Angel
Those of us who are fans of the television show Stargate are most likely fans of their spin-off series Stargate Atlantis.

This article will help assist you in getting and creating your own Stargate Atlantis Stargate complete with active wormhole.

You should purchase the following DST (Diamond Select Toys) Stargate Atlantis action figures, be sure to purchase the 7 inches mentioned in this article and not the larger figures.

To achieve the completed Stargate Atlantis Stargate purchase the following: Wraith of series 1 and Wraith Queen of series 2 to complete the bottom base of the Atlantis gate. You may choose from which Rodney McKay action figure you desire, the Field Ops or the plain uniform series 2. Field Ops Teyla, or Athosian Teyla of series 2. Field Ops John Sheppard, or Lt. Colonel John Sheppard of series 1. Dr. Elizabeth Weir, or Field Ops Dr. Weir of series 1. I would recommend purchasing all the Field Ops to keep the figures uniform.

Once all your Atlantis figures are acquired you will need to pop them together, this may take a lot of strength, and tweaking to do, as their pieces tend to be a bit stiff. Once fully assembled, you will need to go to http://www.stephenmeli.net/images/eventhorizon.jpg and save the image file. Once saved to your desktop, bring the image up in your image editing software. Change the hue to match Stargate Atlantis's Stargate, which is a soft teal. Be sure to backup the file before attempting to edit. Save as .bmp or .jpg, not .gif. If you save as .gif you will ruin the quality of the image, and it will look horrid when printed. If you are unable to edit the hue, ask your local print shop if they can achieve it for you. Be sure to have it printed out at about 11 by 11. You will need to cut off a lot of it in order to have it flat at the bottom. You can't print this out on any average printer because they are unable to print that large. If you do desire, instead of going to your local printers you could head over to ebay to order the one that someone is selling there for around $9.

If you'd like to create the Stargate please read the other article I wrote on how to get and create your own Stargate. That article also has more information on where to purchase these figures, and fees.

I would like to suggest when mounting your gate, that you use Elmer's stick glue to glue it onto poster board, or cardboard. If you use regular glue it will mess up the layout of the water effect. Cardboard or poster board will give it stability.
