Do you love spa treatments but don't have the time or money to invest in them? This is a near effortless recipe for creating your own quality sugar scrub with common ingredients found in your home. This versatile concoction is great in the bathroom and functions well as a homemade gift from the heart. Life is stressful - take some time to relax!

You will need:

  • Ziplock bag
  • Quick absorbing baby oil
  • Vitamin E oil
  • Sugar
  • Scented essential oil of your choice

Directions:
  1. Open your Ziplock bag. Fill your bag approximately half full with sugar. This amount of sugar yields 1 full bag of scrub.
  2. Next, you will add your quick absorbing baby oil to your bag. Add the baby oil slowly, as you will need to adjust the amount according to your personal preference. For a more abrasive scrub, add less baby oil. For a smoother scrub, add more baby oil. For maximum smoothness, add enough baby oil to almost completely fill your bag.
  3. Now, you will add your Vitamin E oil, which serves as the skin-softener in your scrub. A little Vitamin E goes a LONG way, so you only want to add approximately 2 teaspoons full.
  4. Finally, you will add your scented essential oil. The scent of your scrub provides you with a highly personalized experience. When choosing oils, keep in mind that different scents have various effects on mood. Peppermint is invigorating. Citrus is energizing. Lavender is calming. Vanilla is soothing. If you experience difficulty with locating oils, peppermint and vanilla extract work equally well.
  5. Seal your Ziplock bag. Squeaze and mash the bag until it appears as though all ingredients are thoroughly mixed. Take this opportunity to add more baby oil if you need to.
  6. Leave your scrub in the bag for fast and easy use or transfer it to a tightly sealed decorative container - mason jars work very well for this. Enjoy!
