Apple iPhone as you all might be aware of is the new revolutionary mobile phone created by Apple and believe me you will be pleased by the features offered by this revolutionary mobile phone. This eye-catching Smartphone allows you to install third party applications and has a lot of features for the user to play with. But, one thing I disliked about this cool iPhone was that a user has to buy a ringtone from iTunes store and then only the ringtone can be played on the iPhone. Without purchasing the ringtone it was not possible to manually add ringtones on your iPhone.

So, I decided to search on the internet to discover a solution for the same and on some forums I saw a post that mentioned, "The older version of iTunes i.e. version 7.4 had a bug that allowed you to manually add ringtones to your iPhone without having it to be purchased from the iTunes store." I tried doing it but I was unsuccessful in the same. Now, I have discovered a way by which you can create ringtones from within your iPhone. This way you can easily create ringtones from within the iPhone and thus save time. Follow the step by step guide below to easily create ringtones from within your iPhone.

Step 1: From the springboard of your iPhone i.e. the screen where you can see icons, select the installer icon by tapping on it. The installer application window will appear and from there select the "Sources" button located on the lower right corner of the window. Tap it to open the "Sources" window.

Step 2: Now, you will notice an "Edit" option located on the top right corner. Tap it with your finger and on the left top corner, you will find an "ADD" button. Tap the ADD button and in the source field add this as the source: http://i.danstaface.net and press OK to confirm and add the same as the source. Finally, tap the "DONE" button located on the top right corner.

Step 3: Now, press the "REFRESH" button located on the top left corner and wait until the refreshing progress is complete. Now, press the INSTALL button located below, and from the categories listed select "MULTEMEDIA". From the Multimedia categories, select "RINGTONES". After you tap "Ringtones", it will show you the package info. Now, on the top right corner, you will find the INSTALL button. Tap it to install the application and press the INSTALL button to finally install the application.

Note: Before installing this application, make sure that you have already installed the BSD subsystem as this is an important application required to perform such tweaks. You can easily find it from the installer application category by selecting the same from "All Packages".

Step 4: After the application has been successfully installed, the springboard will reboot after you press the HOME button to come back. Now, you will notice RINGTONES icon on your springboard. Tap it to open the Ringtones application window. After a few seconds, a list of options will appear. From there select "Start Converting" options to create a new ringtone for you iPhone. The application will perform some self checks before you can actually start creating ringtones.

Step 5: Now, select the audio file from your music library and select the same for conversion to ringtone. You can always select "Quick Conversion" or "Advanced Conversion" according to your wish. You can select the length of the ringtone and also preview the same. Press the convert now button to start the conversion process. After the ringtone has been successfully converted, you will find the same in your ringtones list.

Step 6: This step is optional and is only meant to check whether the ringtone you created is in the ringtones list or not. Go back to Springboard and select Settings. A new window will appear and from there select Sounds and then Ringtone. From the list of various ringtones, you will notice the one you created using the method above.

Now, you are done with this process and you can always create more ringtones whenever you want. The benefit is that you can create ringtone on the move as compared to using the software and the computer to create ringtones. This option allows portability and feasibility as compared to the use of iPhoneRingtoneMaker software as mentioned earlier in one of my tutorials.
