After your table is in order, select a tall and slender vase for flowers. Choose a small arrangement of one or two flowers. Use your date's favorite flower or if you are unsure, roses are always nice. Be aware that roses have symbolism behind their colors. For example, red roses stand for love. Place the vase off to the side of the table so as not to be between you and your special someone. You don't want to block the view of their smiling face!
The next step is lighting. Lighting is a very important detail in regard to setting an atmosphere. You must choose properly according to what mood you are trying to achieve. You are going for romantic so you need to use candle light. When choosing the perfect candles for your dinner, you need to think about height. You want to make sure that the candle is lighting you and your date from above. Get the tall stick candles with a pretty holder. You don't want a low lighting candle, causing you and your guest to have that "scary story camp fire flashlight under the face look".
Another important factor to consider in choosing the perfect candle is scent. You do not want to buy a scented candle to use before or during your dinner. You want to let the aroma of only the meal fill the home, not some candle fragrance mixing with it. Buy a scented candle to save for after the meal. Perhaps, move into the living room after dinner for a bowl of ice cream or a yummy slice of cream pie. Light up a vanilla scented candle to set off your dessert time.
Music is always a nice touch to a romantic dinner experience. Choose something soft like classical or jazz. Even if this isn't your usual choice of music, it is the perfect choice for this occasion. You don't want to take away from any conversation between you and your date. This is why classical or jazz is such a good choice. There are no words to draw away your attention.
The food is gone now and the rest is up to you. Relax and have a wonderful night! I hope it goes well!
