Save your pennies and create a spectacular show piece by following these simple instructions:
Scalloped Paper Flower
Supplies Needed:
Scalloped Edge Circle Punch (or scissors)
Craft Paper (plain or patterned)
Craft Glue
Craft Markers
Colored Brads
Instructions:
Scissors may be used, but a scalloped edge circle paper punch (easily found in any craft store) works best for this craft.
Using the scalloped edge circle paper punch, punch out eight (8) circles from your choice of colored or patterned craft paper.
Choose a craft marker that is a slightly darker or complimentary color to the craft paper. Line the outer edge of each of the eight scalloped circles. This gives the illusion of depth and dimension to your paper flowers.
Punch one additional circle and trim off edges to create a non-scalloped edge circle. This circle will be the base of the flower. Use a pencil to poke a small hole in the center of the circle. This will allow for easier brad placement later.
Fold each of the eight scalloped circles in half. Fold each circle in half again. Repeat half fold for a third time (end result is pictured.) Each folded circle with have one side with two flaps and a folded edge.
Apply craft glue to the top of the base circle.
Using the craft circle as a guide, attach the folded circles flap side down, adhering the flaps to the circle base. Continue applying folded circles to the base until the base is fully covered. You will now have a completed scalloped edge flower.
Allow glue to dry completely.
Ideally, it is best to make multiple flowers at the same time, allowing all the dry and storing away any flowers you do not use for future projects.
Once the flower is dry, attached the flower to your card or scrapbook page with a complementary colored brad by poking the brad attachment end through the small hole (you established earlier) and then attaching to the paper card or scrapbook page. The brad will serve as the flower center.
If you do not have any brads or would like to achieve a different effect, small buttons or gems may be glued to the center of the flower and then the flower base can simply be glued or taped to the craft paper you are using for your card or scrapbook page.
