Perhaps they like the fact that I have become very knowledgeable about Twitter, which is now nearing 4 million people strong. Perhaps it's my healthy chocolate opportunity. Perhaps the lure is...
Whatever you decide is the reason for my online success the basic point remains. To create social networking opportunities one needs to keep their eyes open and be ready to move when the time is right.
So how do you do that?
First, present yourself as an extremely helpful and friendly source where people can be directly helped in areas that interest them personally. For example, I am an Independent Distributor for a healthy chocolate company. I can go out and tell everyone this, which wouldn't be bad given that everyone loves chocolate.
However, if I show myself as a helpful friendly resource for what they are directly interested in, then the possibility of my popularity growing is huge. That is why I created my Twitter Ebook which I give away free. While this has nothing to do with chocolate the end result will be that people respect my opinions more than just your average Joe. As such they will be willing to listen to my information about the benefits of healthy chocolate.
Second, be willing to listen to those who are trying to help. Lead by example. Since my goal is to provide people with an awesome Ebook related to Twitter, I would be best served by listening to what others are trying to do. I've seen this process work successfully numerous times, but none better than with @Wealthy23. To start he was not very interested in listening to my chocolate stories. As we spent time together getting to know each other things quickly changed, but only because I was willing to listen to questions that directly impacted his world.
The result of following this process with @Wealthy23 was my own discovery of Itweet.Net thanks to him feeling free to share the information with me. Here I am writing a book. Certainly I don't need other people's advice, right? Wrong. Keep an open mind and listening to others is how to create social networking power through joint venture ideas.
