How to Create a Three Level Floating Wedding Centerpiece with Tinted Water

Lori Godin
The first step to creating your three level floating centerpieces is to find three glass vases of varying widths and lengths. These are all going to be filled with water to the point of three inches from the top. These looked great, and were inspired by the picture that is accompanied with this article.

In these vases we are going to add varying amounts of food coloring to create three vases of varying tones of the same color, in my wedding, I chose to use pink, and therefore different amounts of red were added to each of the vases.

Now, you have to choose which flowers are going to be inserted into each one of the vases. I choose lilies, because these were the flowers. I also chose to use pink rocks that would be at the bottom of the vases and hold the lilies in place. These should be as close to the top as possible, try to get the flowers to face the outside of the vase.

It is important to put the lilies, and the rocks under the water, as the top of the vases are going to be filled with floating candles. One floating candle in the tallest and thinnest vase, two in the medium height vase and three in the lowest, and the vase with the widest base.

This is one of the simplest centerpieces to create, and it is one that the most affect on the finished table. Around the vases there could be more flowers, scattered pink rocks, or a color of your choice that matches the tinted water and sparkles or other table scatterings.

You could use more than three vases, but I would recommend not using less. Three gives the desired effect, especially if flowers are placed around the vases on the tables. Your guests will love the effects while they have their candle lit meal.
