How to Create a Wedding with a Movie Theme

Rhett and Scarlet Get Married

Dan Reveal
With the increasing availability of sophisticated recording equipment like camcorders, digital cameras, and cell phones, weddings have gone beyond the traditional and have turned into rather theatrical events.

Doesn't this spark an idea? As long as you'll be recording the wedding anyway, why not capitalize on this imaginative prospect and create a wedding with a movie theme?

Movie Theme Wedding Announcements

Imagine sending out a wedding announcement that looks more like a movie prop. What a fine beginning to creating a wedding with a movie theme.

The cover: "Now Showing" on May 5, 2011, embossed with pictures of popcorn, celebrities, and movie theaters.

The inside: The bride and groom and all those involved as a cast of characters in a movie. This cast, along with lines from a movie script, make it the ideal movie prop.

The point of a movie theme wedding announcement is that you are making the guests feel like they're being invited to a movie premier.

Movie Theme Decorations

This feature of creating a wedding with a movie theme is pretty self-explanatory. You simply pick a movie that has lots of well known details and decorate your wedding in that style.

If you want a "Gone with the Wind" movie theme, for example, you would simply find costumes from that southern era.

A ballroom dancing hall would fit this theme nicely to suggest that Rhett Butler and Scarlet O'hara are really getting married.

Movie Theme Dialogue

To complete the spirit of fun that creating a wedding with a movie theme will inspire, why not incorporate actual dialogue from the movie you are using?

In this, you aren't taking away from the traditional wedding vows. The goal is to intertwine notable passages from the movie of your choice with the wedding vows.

Thus, for example, in creating a wedding with a movie theme, you'd have the groom--who is Rhett--saying, "Frankly, my dear, I do!"

In sum, with the use of advanced technical gadgets which can record your wedding, you can be inspired to transform the wedding into a theatrical event.

Your goal can be to create a wedding with a movie theme.

Creative ideas that will help you create a wedding with a movie theme can include sending out wedding announcements that appear to be movie props, decorating in the style of the movie, and acting out scenes from the movie while you are exchanging vows.
