How to Crochet a Bath Towel

And a Few Places to Find Other Crocheted Towel Patterns as Well!

When it comes to towels, there are many different sizes and shapes, when it comes to crocheting; we have a tendency to add a bit more. Not only do we do everything from dishrags to hand towels to bath towels, but we add interest to kitchen towel by adding towel toppers as well. No matter what you are looking for, you can find it somewhere out there. Here are a few free crochet patterns, websites and books to check out and find exactly what you are looking for.

Simple Bath Towel with Picot Edging:

Towel works best when crocheted with 100% cotton yarn.

Hook size: J

Row 1: (Note: this row creates the foundation chain) Ch 5 sl st in 5th ch from hook (this counts as one ch from here on out), (ch 10, sl st in 5th ch from hook) 15 times, ch 1, turn.

Row 2: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.

Row 3: Ch 2, turn, hdc in each sc st across.

Row 4: Ch1, turn, sc in each hdc st across.

Repeat Rows 3 and 4 until towel measures 36" - or desired length.

Last Row: Ch 5, turn, sl st in 5th ch from hook, sc in first sc st and in next 4 sc, *Ch 5, sl st in 5th ch from hook, sc in next 5 sc, repeat from * across, ch 5, sl st 5th ch from hook, sl st in same sc as last sc st. Bind off, weave in ends.

Abbreviations Guide:

• Ch - Chain

• Hdc - Half Double Crochet

• Sc - Single Crochet

• Sl st - Slip Stitch

• St - Stitch
