How to Crochet a Country-Style Wedding Dress for a Doll

This beautiful crocheted wedding dress will fit most fashion dolls. This country bride would make a wonderful one-of-a-kind bridal or shower gift. This crocheted wedding dress is easy to make if you have knowledge of the basic crochet stitches and standard sewing. Depending on how fast you crochet, this dress will take approximately two days to make, but can be made in one day.

Country-Style Wedding Dress

Supplies:

Glue gun
Glue sticks
Scissors
11 1/2 inch fashion doll
Yarn needle
Size G crochet hook (4 1/2 mm)
7 oz. white yarn
6 1/2 yards of 1" white gathered lace
30 small blue flowers
2 yards of 1/4 inch wide ribbon
1 yd of white tulle (5 1/2 inches wide)

4 dc - 1 inch
5 sc - 1 inch

Dress Directions: All work is done on the back lps. (lps away from you)

Row 1 - Ch 17, make 2 hdc in second ch from hook, and each ch acr. Ch 2, turn. (32 hdc)
Row 2 - Hdc in each hdc acr. Ch 2, turn. (32 hdc)
Row 3 - Hdc in nt 6 hdc, ch 3, skip 5 hdc, hdc in nt 10 hdc, ch 3, skip 5 hdc, hdc in remaining 6 hdc. Ch 2, turn.
Row 4 - Hdc in each hdc and ch acr. Ch 1, turn. (28 hdc)
Row 5 - Sc in nt 2 hdc, dec, (To dec yo and draw up a lp on the nt 2 hdc, there should be 3 lps on the hook, yo and pull through all 3 lps - dec made.) Make one sc in each of the next 3 hdc, dec, one sc in each of the next 2 hdc, dec one sc in each of the next 4 sc, dec, one sc in each of the next 5 hdc, dec, sc in each remaining hdc acr. (23 sc)
Rows 6 - 9 - Sc in each sc acr. Ch 1, turn after rows 6 - 8, after row 9 is crocheted, join with a sl st to beginning ch. Ch 3.
Row 10 - Make 2 dc in each sc acr. Join, ch 3. (46 dc)
Row 11 - Repeat row 10. (92 dc)
Rows 12 - 13 - Dc in each dc aro. Join, ch 3 after each row. (92 dc)
Row 14 - Make 3 dc in each dc aro. Join, ch 3. (276 dc)
Row 15 - Repeat row 14. (828 dc)
Rows 16 -17 - Dc in each dc aro. Join, ch 3 after row 16. After row 17, join the row, then cut yarn and weave in the ends.

Directions for Dressing and Decorating the Fashion Doll:

1. Place the dress on the doll, then sew up the back of the dress.
2. Cut a 9 inch piece from the lace, then glue it on the collar of the dress.
3. Glue six blue flowers to the collar of the wedding dress.
4. Cut a 14 inch piece of ribbon. Tie this piece of ribbon into a bow. Make sure the tails of the bow are even in length.
5. Glue the bow to the front, center waist of the crocheted dress. Glue each tail of the bow down the center, front of the dress. The tails of the bow should touch right above the ruffle of the wedding dress, and should be about two inches apart.
6. Glue three flowers to the center of the bow, and at the ends of each tail that was glued down.
7. Glue the remaining lace on the front lps of the last row crocheted.

Directions for Making the Veil and Bouquet

1. Take the tulle and measure nine inches, then fold the tulle piece to this point. Take the remaining tulle to the top, where it was folded.
2. Cut a 30 inch piece from the ribbon. Tie this piece of ribbon approximately three inches down and around the top of the veil.
3. Style the doll's hair into a high ponytail to one side of the head.
4. Tie the veil around the doll's ponytail.
5. Place six flowers to the front of the doll's hair.
6. Form a bouquet with the remaining flowers. Cut a 12 inch piece from the ribbon. Tie this piece of ribbon around the stems of the flowers.
7. Place the wedding bouquet in the doll's hand.
8. Tie the remaining ribbon around the doll's waist.
