How to Make a Crochet Heart Card

Rachelle Dawson
Construct this easy crochet heart card when you need an extra-special way to show someone you care. Use as a valentine, love note, or just a cute note card. It requires minimal materials and only basic crochet skills. The pattern uses mostly single crochet and chain stitches.

Materials

Red and pink embroidery floss, or two coordinating colors of your choice

Steel crochet hook, size 8 (1.5 mm)

Blank notecard, or piece of card stock folded in half

Pink card stock or coordinating color

Glue, tape, or adhesive tabs

Crochet Heart Card Instructions

  1. Crochet the heart. You may find instructions below under the heading "Crochet Heart Pattern."
  2. Position heart on center front of card.
  3. Use needle to poke holes at points where each red tail will enter. Take care to poke the holes only through the front cover of the card and not the back. Thread each strand of embroidery floss through the hole to the back of the cover.
  4. Open card. Secure threads on back side by tying a square knot between each pair of neighboring threads. When you're done, you'll have three knots. Trim threads.
  5. Cut two shapes (rectangles, circles, hearts, etc.) from the pink card stock. Cut them slightly smaller than the card's panel. Tape or glue both shapes to inside panels of card. One will cover the knots. On the other, you can write your message.
