To make a basic leaf.
Know that size is dependent on your crochet hook and yarn size. I make my projects with Vanna's Choice yarn which uses a J sized hook.
Row 1. Chain 9.
Row 2. Single crochet in first chain from hook. Double crochet in the next three chains. Half double crochet in next chain. Single crochet in the following chain. Slip stitch to the end of the chain. (3 slip stitches)
Row 3. Going down the other side of the chain. Slip stitch in first two chains. single crochet in the next two chains. Double crochet in the next three chains. Single crochet in the next chain. Join to the last single crochet in the row with a slip stitch and tie off. Weave in tails.
Here is another variation.
Row 1 Chain 7.
Row 2. Single crochet in the second chain from the hook. Double crochet in the next three chains. Half double crochet in the next chain. In the last chain of the row, work. two half double crochets, chain two, 2 half double crochets.
You will now be at the other side of the foundation chain.
Row 3. double crochet in the next three chains. Half double crochet in the next chain, single stitch in the following chain and slip stitch into the last chain in the row.
These are but two examples of a very simple crochet leaf, there are many variations for different kinds of leaves. Maple and Oak leaves for example can also be crochet very easily. Leaves make a fun adornment to flowers, hats, or as a stand alone decoration for your fall leaves decor in your house as well as for thanksgiving and Autumn themes.
