Magic circle
Ch2 place 6 DC in magic circle, join, and pull the tail to tighten.
Working in a spiral place 1 HDC in the join stitch and 6 HDC around, place a stitch marker to note your starting place and work in a continued spiral of 7 stitches for 30 rows. To close, place one single crochet, then slip stitch to stop your spiral.
Hat itself
Ch2 HDC in same place as chain, place 8 HDC around. Join.
Round2-CH2 9 HDC around Join do not turn
R3- Ch 2 10 HDC around ( put 2 hdc in same place you chained two. At the end Join to the first HDC not the chain2)
R4 ch2 HDC in same place as chsp,* HDC 1 in next stitch, 2 hdc in next stitch around* Join to first HDC
R5 ch2 HDC in same place as Chain * HDC 1 in next 2 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch* around Join to first HDC
R6 Ch2 HDC in same place as chain * DGC1 in next 3 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch* around join to first HDC
R7 Ch2 HDC in same place as chain *HDC 1 in next 4 sitiches, 2 hdc in next stitch* around, Join to first HDC
R8 Ch2 HDC in same place as chain * HDC 1 in next 5 stitches, 2 hdc in next stitch* around, join to first HDC

End of the increase rows. You will now work in the round as a spiral. Use a stitch marker to mark the start of the rounds

When you are at end of your 6th round, count back 5 stitches from the place where you marked your start place. put 3 sc and 2 slip stitches to finish off the round.
ENDING 1
R16- 17 Ch2 Front post half double crochet, back post half double crochet around to create the ribbing effect.
ENDING 2
HDC around for rows 16-17 for a solid brim.
Make a pom pom and tie to the end of your long tail. You now have a newborn sized long tailed pixie hat. This pattern is easy to size up by using a larger hook and larger sized yarn.
