This is one of my popular designs with photographers. And now you can make your very own tiny top hat. Ive seen these used in photography, worn by adults and children as fun. Ive created mad hatter hats, baby new years hats, valentines day top hats and more.

Any Worsted Weight yarn, The stiffer the better. I like to use red heart because typically its not a softer yarn. If you do use a softer yarn, you can spray it with starch to stiffen your hat.

Sc- Single Crochet
HDC- Half double crochet
Ch- Chain
HDC2T- Half double crochet two together

R4- (Sc in first two stitches, 2 sc in next stitch) Around ( 40) join, Ch 1
R5- Sc around ( 50 ) join, Ch 1
Work in the back loops to create a rim

Row 7 - 11 Now work in a contnious spiral, Hdc around. Use a stitch marker to hold your seam place and count your rows.
Row 12- ( HDC next 6 stitches, HDC2T ) around
Row 13- HDC around
Row 14- (HDC next 5 stitches, HDC2T) around
Row-15-17 HDC around ( if you want a colored band, you can change these three rows to a color )
This is the start of your brim
Row 18- 2 HDC in each stitch around
Row 19- HDC around
I usually end my brims at two rows. But for a wider brim, you can add a third row of HDC around.
I like to add ribbon and sometimes decorations to my mini top hats. Decorations are up to you!
