Give each child a piece of heavy black card stock, or choose another color as desired. Show children how to draw an asterisk-style star. Using a rule, draw four intersecting lines in a star shape. The lines should each be even, about four or fives inches long. Or make the vertical and horizontal lines slightly longer than the two diagonal intersecting lines.
Choose a medium to large sequin or craft crystal. Glue this in the center of the asterisk star, right where all the lines intersect. Glue smaller sequins or craft crystals along each line. Allow the snowflake craft to dry completely.
Use an Exacto razor blade to cut out the snowflake design. Trim as closely as possible to the sequined lines without dislodging any of the sequins or crystals. Younger children can use craft scissors and simply cut out the design, but they will need to leave a little more black card stock around the edges.
Glue a loop of ribbon or a twisted craft chenille straw (pipe cleaner) to the back, top of one of the star's arms. Once it has dried completely, hang the Crystal Bling Snowflake on your tree or tape the ribbon loop into your window.
You can use a different color card stock if you wish, but the black really sets off the shine and color of the sequins and craft crystals. Use this easy Christmas craft for package toppers for Hanukkah or Kwanzaa, or for a neutral winter-holiday gift for co-workers. You can slip them into holiday cards for mailing, tie to the top of holiday goodie-bags and baked goods, or attach a spiritual verse or holiday greeting to the to ribbon.
