How to Curb or Avoid Hunger While Dieting

When you're on a diet, cutting calories is crucial to losing weight. However, it is difficult to eat less and burn calories through exercise without experiencing increased hunger. When you experience hunger and do not want to give in to eat more than you should, you can follow these tips to deal.
  • Eat a nutritious, low-calorie snack. If you feel that you must eat, you can do so if you choose a nutritious and low-calorie snack. Most fresh fruit and vegetables are low in calories as long as they are raw and aren't smothered in high-calorie sauces or dips. A few of my favorite low calorie snacks are fuji apples or steamed zucchini.
  • Eat more often, in smaller portions. Weight loss experts agree that it is beneficial for those dieting to eat smaller portions frequently. Doing so will help to keep you satisfied, which greatly decreases the chance that you will break down and overeat, or eat the wrong foods. Doing so will also help your body to maintain its ideal metabolism.
  • Drink water. Water is very important in weight loss. It not only helps you to feel full and satisfied, but it plays a vital role in maintaining your body's metabolism and digestion. Water also prevents dehydration, which will keep your body functioning at optimum performance, so you will be able to work out longer and more efficiently.
  • Distract yourself from eating. When you get hungry, try to do an activity which will distract you from your hunger. The activity you choose will depend on your own interests and hobbies, and can be anything from taking a walk, working on a puzzle, or watching television.
  • Eat more fiber and protein. Eating a diet which is rich in fiber and protein can help your body to feel more satisfied, so that you will feel hungry less often and eat less. Some examples of foods which are high in fiber include most fruits and vegetables. Some foods which are high in protein include oatmeal, nuts, and beans.

Following these simple tips will help you to avoid hunger and eat less, which will aid you in your weight loss.
