How to Curb Depression After Economic Loss..

Volunteering Networks People and Keeps Us Busy

M.J. Flynn
In today's times of emotional trauma, economic instability, and ever changing job markets, we need to discover new ways to invent ourselves. What we often miss while we are caught up in the immense trauma that follows in such times is what we truly do not require and what will fulfill our spirit. If we take a few moments to fill that spirit we may find new directions; new branches and leaves we can grow and cultivate. Of course your life may take a turn for the better; but is that any worse than allowing yourself to fall into the abyss of nothingness?

Take time out to return to something greater than self; look not within, but to the outside. In life we spend our lives grasping onto the negative emotions and lies that plague our media. In fact, many of us live in such depression we embrace those on the covers of tabloids as our own; we fall into the news stories touting the failing economy and needed bailouts. Glued to our cell phones, computers, and cable for the latest fall of 5 points on the markets; all the while listening to some guy on the high def television tell us how a mother is living on the streets with her kids after losing her job on Wall Street.

I would urge you to take a moment and commit to a self inventory; ask yourself what you really need to survive. In the past we had a pulse dial phone, paper and pen, stamps and bikes; we knew our neighbors and the kids could walk to school a mile in the snow uphill both ways and we were proud. This day of corporate government and nationalized takeovers is nothing short of planned governance by those who say they are our friends and have held power for the last 40 years.

Rumsfeld and Cheney worked for Ford; Ford put in power Bush as head of the CIA; and soon after they put in Reagan; then back to Bush; then off to Clinton who is now hanging with Bush Senior; and finally Bush Jr. Now Obama is in to clean up the mess into a quiet nationalized socialist governing body just in time for the transition to the Amero in 2010 and the New American Union. This economic movement we are seeing is nothing new; the economic theory has existed since the University of Chicago School of economics embraced it in the 1970's under a man named Milton Friedman. Someday I will spell everything out for my fans; but today we are discussing you and how you can survive the depression that follows.

In order for you to survive you need to step away from that negative information that beams at you around every corner. Step outside the norms of your daily life; you have time now. Walk in the desert, the mountains and the glaciers of this great country; look longingly at a sunset and awake early for a sunrise. Watch your children closer, hug them harder, and love them more. Control your wants and determine your needs; be frugal on the things cost money and enjoy everything that economics cannot take from us.

Beyond everything else; take 4 hours a week and contact a volunteer program and help out. Find someone who needs more than you; accept them without judgment and just sit with them; talk to them; help them. You may find the connections with each other as volunteers will open new doors and experiences that can change your life forever. Moreover, while you spend your time helping others you will let go of the materialism and enjoy life rather than wallow in depression over those things you never really needed; but corporations told you did.
